Rockstar Game Launcher / Social club website connection time out
I've seen this mentioned before but I'm having an issue where every time I try to load the rockstar games launcher (such as when launching GTAV) or even go to the socialclub.rockstargames.com website the connection will time out and won't load in.

This is a list of what I have tried to do to fix the problem:
  • Restart my computer
  • Restart the router
  • Power off router for a day
  • Change DNS on PC
  • Change Given IP on router by MAC cloning
  • Reset network settings on PC
  • Reinstall the social club games launcher
  • Disable Firewalls
  • Resetting caches with CMD
  • Switching from a wireless adapter to an ethernet cable
Using a VPN fixes it but it's an unviable solution due to low speed and the fact that it breaks many other things

I've tested this on another device using the same network and it had a connection time out on the rockstar social club website as well, this leads me to believe that the issue is somewhere between the router and the rockstar servers and has little/nothing to do with my PC settings.

The issue started appearing around 3-4 days ago and I was in game during the initial disconnect.

Any help would be appreciated

A friend of mine experienced something like this about a month ago. It turned out he got IP banned.

It could be some form of rangeban, is there a way to check?

Your friend was not IP banned by rockstar. Rockstar does not do IP bans. they are too easy to bypass since everyones IP changes.

you could try calling your ISP and seeing about getting a new IP, or getting your IP refreshed.

My brother told me that our IP Address is the same to those who are using our ISP. And he said that Rockstar bans those who have the same IP. So maybe your IP address is banned too, the same as mine. Although most people say there's no IP banning, it has something to do with Rockstar.

He just made a new VPN Server (Hong Kong) and we used it. It worked, though maybe there's a noticeable lag. But it's better than nothing.

I've used a VPN and it seems to work but it's definitely a last resort solution

Yeah, I figure something is somehow blocking an IP for some reason or something like that and after a while the block either ends or you get a new one. Though I guess it's different for everyone

When you say week one do you mean since when you bought the game or when it started needing social club?

I normally have it set on auto but I've changed it to like 3 different servers including google, cloudflare and some others.

Yeah auto just uses your ISP DNS which is usually crap. Id set the primary to 8.8.8.8 and the secondary to cloudflare 1.1.1.1. these work well for me.

I ctrl C broke at the end because it spent way too long on 12, as for pinging it just got Request timed out 4 times.

Hmm. So you made it through to their servers on the traceroute. but cannot directly connect to their website.
Just to ease my mind, run the following commands in order from your command line.

Type "ipconfig /flushdns" and press Enter.
Type "ipconfig /registerdns" and press Enter.
Type "ipconfig /release" and press Enter.
Type "ipconfig /renew" and press Enter.
Type "netsh winsock reset" and press Enter.
Restart the computer.

I tried this and it didn't work, I've done something like this before so it's not exactly a surprise.
