I don't think it's fair to call those who buy shark cards stupid. If they have the disposable income, and no time to grind, it's their choice.
You know what's stupid?
Players risking all their time in the game, and stuff they actually earned, and the cost of the game just to get some cheater to drop money on them. That to me is truly throwing your money and time away.
But, that's my perspective, I respect you have yours.
I'd also like to add, gaming is a luxury, not a right. When we discuss the "evil greed" of Rockstar and any other game developers, we have to keep in this in mind.
I don't like the whole microtransaction trend in gaming either, but people are paying, and game companies are responding.
We aren't talking about escalating food prices, or electricity rates, or gas prices, we are talking about something you don't really need, you only want.
No it has been reported by gaming magazines/sites... They made 700 million last year just off of shark cards alone, not taking into account ANY game sales...
They've made somewhere between 400 million to 700 million per year since GTA online launched. I'd guess their sales for shark cards account for a good 80% or more of the total profit they've recieved from GTA V.
Don't believe me? Look it up.
I buy what I want, when I want because I can. If you can't or don't want to it doesn't make you any better at anything. Is it silly? Perhaps, for some there's the time factor but I believe ultimately is people woing whatever the ♥♥♥♥ they want. Something that millenials don't seem to understand as they have to tell everyone what and how to do something.
Time is money. If I'm a doctor who makes $100 an hour, it would be stupid for me to grind an hour for $300,000 GTA money rather than just buy a shark card and play the game.
Some rich kids pay $10k per year subscription to instagram equivalent to be able to post pictures so others admire them! So what is $100 for shark card (or whatever it cost)?
Each one of those games not even coming close to the quality and content in GTA V.
Having friends does help make money, but something I've noticed about the community is they commonly shout that Rockstar force you to buy the shark cards yet whenever I search for a deathmatch, race, survival, etc, the lobbies always consist of 5 or less people, sometimes it's just me. People commonly just play in freeroam and kill each other, which makes you lose money since you're also most likely going to die. Not to mention people enjoy destroying other peoples personal vehicles which also causes them to lose money. They also have to purchase everything new and also have max ammo (some explosives cost $1000 each and maxing weapons can cost like $10,000 each.) Of course, it's Rockstars fault and not the player base.
It's a fact; time is far more precious and harder to come by than money for some people, so buying a Shark Card is actually cheaper than grinding on the game for hours upon hours, and I'd rather them do that than cheat to get the money, as well. Hell, we should probably even thank those that buy the cards for the simple fact that the game gets free updates instead of paid DLC because Rockstar is making money off the people buying the cards...
Funny that Rockstar isn't even in the top 10 richest companies dispite all their huge earnings.
