save games are gone ??

so, felt like doing some driving around and seing what's up with the updates on online, but appearantly all my save games are gone and the game now wants me to go through the prolouge again .... is this a known issue with this game on PC ? i really don't feel like going through all that again just to do some foolin around on online.

the game wants me to redo the prolouge of campaign in order to play online, it's as if it's the first time i'm playing online, which it is not.

Doing the prologue takes 10 minutes is what he was saying.

'IF' the savegames are actually gone. do prologue and move on, use a backup save, download a save, or if you use/used cloudsync - turn that on and get those back. Sometimes though, a file can become corrupt that makes the game tell you to do the prologue again, and again and again, but doesn't necessarily mean the saves are gone. If that is your issue - there is more info here regarding that/corrupt file/issue -

prolouge takes about 30 minutes, so no.
besides that, i already did this, i already have been playing the main game, not completed yet but pretty sure i was close, i don't wanna start over again, i'm not asking for advise on how to move on from this, i'm asking how i'm getting my saves back and if this is a known issue with this game.

If cloud save was on, the saves may still be there and just say to start a new game. Upon clicking that, it will load your most recent cloud save. If you don't have one, nexus mods has many.

If your saves are gone.. they are gone. Saves disappearing isn't some 'common' issue with the game. Highly likely something changed, or became corrupt as mentioned. So download a savegame at roughly the %/exact mission you were on. If you renamed (and not deleted like some people suggest -.-) a folder to fix problems you might have a backup. If you were using onedrive and turned it off, potential loss. If you are on a new windows user, you might have your saves in an old windows user / my documents / rockstar games / gtav / profile / <profilename> location. Again, you might have even used cloudsync and can turn that back on to recover them. Hell, you might even be on a new pc for all we know. Or - just search your whole pc for sgta*.* and see if anything shows up. There are MANY ways to have 'lost' saves that have zero bearing at all on the game 'losing them'. Regardless, you said you wanted to fool around online - at this point, who cares about savegames for storymode.

If it takes you 30 minutes from start of prologue to Trevor running into the snow... I have no words. 'all that' - literally just did it and timed myself from clicking 'storymode' til Michael on the couch - 9 minutes. I even opened options to tweak 2 control settings. Spaced through to Franklin in alley, esc, went online. Exited game. Went back in - went right online.

You were given multiple ways to get past this because for all we know your saves may be completely gone. Only you can provide the additional info as to what - if anything changed - on your end. he gave you advice to move on from it, and you even responded to that advice. you just chose to ignore it

okay, first of all, i'm not using nexusmod and i havent messed around with the game files on my computer, i haven't touch anything that had to do with gta5.

the save files are just not being detected by the game or steam or what ever is causing this, even in cloud saves it dosnt read anything and say that i have to start over.

so like i asked to begin with, is this a common /common-new bug in this game ?

hey no worries man, i'm also just trying to figure out what's going on here, which in the end could help others if it's a new bug happening.

i'm not posting in forums to get help on how to fix it by starting over xD that would make no sense to me, i would just start over if that was the case.

so to clarify, i'm looking for answers on the matter if this is a known bug ? cause if not, then it's a new bug.

i'm also looking for someone who have a fix for it that is official, so no downloading sketchy save files from other people, no sketchy nexusmod fix, none of that, only official fix for lost save files.

going into this i also have a gut feeling of what the results are gonna be, but at least i tried something within the steam community of gta5 before heading straight to reporting the issue.

From experience, Rockstar will tell you saves cannot be recovered. My social club save disappeared and I was forced to start a new story mode save too. Your only option is to start a new save if you don't want to download one.

This has happened to me on Xbox 360 and PC (Epic).

Luckily Online is not affected and you do not have to complete the full prologue. Just reach the point where you meet Franklin and you can go to Online.

that's unfortunate, i'm not about to risk security by downloading a save file.
guess i'll just let the game be unplayed then, i wasnt gonna do much, just drive around see what the new stuff was about, but this makes it too difficult and demanding compared to watching someone showcase it on a stream or on youtube, guess gta5 is a finished chapter for me.

looking it up online and it dosnt seem we are the only ones having this happen to us.
i'll report it to rockstar and maybe they'll one day look into this issue.
