Low FPS with RTX 2060 Super
I just upgraded my GPU and I still cannot run this game max settings 60fps constant even though I've seen vids of old cards being able to do this. My cpu is a ryzen 3 2200g, is that the problem?? Also when I check the gpu usage is low when I'm playing the game and I can barley hit 50fps high to very high settings. Please someone help me out

Did you reinstall GPU drivers?
yup

It depends on what resolution your playing on a lot, i play on ultrawide 3440 1440 with a 2080 ti and there are spots in the game where my fps goes below 40 fps

im playing on 1080p, so it should run perfectly

monitor your gpu/cpu usage with msi afterburner

if your gpu is running at max usage then try lowering some settings

Yes. Bottleneck is real.. If you don't plan on buying new pc to put that gpu in, idk why you even got it.

as a former 2080 owner i could never quite max everything out even with a i9 9900k at 5Ghz. What you are seeing is quite normal.

now my 3080 i can max everything- leave mxaa and fxaa and TAA off while increasing the render scaling to 1.25 eliminates jaggies while increasing fps quite a lot.
AA is massively taxing on your system. i suggest getting rid of it if you can and test out the render resolution scaling in advanced settings. maybe go with 1.5 if you're on 1080p.

also these guys are quite correct a lot of your bottleneck is the CPU. Its always good to try and eliminate that before you decide to upgrade to a new GPU. The render resolution scaling should actually eliminate that aspect tho so give it a try!

Its running at very low usage actually and cpu is at 100%

I'm gonna get a new cpu soon just wondering why its doing so bad

cpu bound, you could look at overclocking

what's your system ram config ? 2 x 4gb, 2 x 8gb

speed 1600mhz or higher

2x4 and its 3200mhz but i just ordered a ryzen 5 3600 and 2x8 ram, hopefully that will make things run a lot better?
macatak 21/out./2020 às 21:36
yeah, 6 cores 12 threads will be heaps better then 4 cores

That CPU should get you a steady 60 fps at almost totally max settings. There are a few settings notorious for crushing fps, like MSAA, however.

The RAM isn't likely to do much for GTAV, but might keep background OS processes and antivirus and stuff running smoother together for a marginal fps gain. Easier tab-outs at least.

Put your graphics higher, remove AA and upscale your game at 1.5 or even 2. I have an i7 4790k overclocked at 4.8Ghz with an Rtx 3080 and in some games I have a CPU bottleneck ( I play at 1440p so it's not as bad as if I was playing in 1080p ).

In some games sadly you won't be able to do this especially in older games but until your new gear arrive try maxing every single thing in your options ( even advanced options ) and try to balance the % usage of your GPU / CPU.

( Edit : Hell even upscale + use an AA if it adds more load to the GPU )
