GTA Online saved data for character 2 has been corrupted
Hi,

I attempted to create a second character and the game crashed in the middle of the process. Now when I attempt to play online I get a message that says "GTA Online saved data for character 2 has been corrupted"

It gives me the option to overwrite this corrupted character but it doesn't actually work.
If I select to overwrite the corrupted character, the next window asks "Are you sure you want to wipe the character 2 saved data?"

I select yes and then in the next window it says "Rockstar cloud error while deleting your character. Please return to Grand Theft Auto V and try again later."

Obviously I've attempted to return later but I keep getting the same sequence of messages and the online game won't load. I searched social club & the internet and thus far have been unable to find a solution. I contacted Rockstar and have yet to hear anything from them.

So my question is, has anyone else encountered this issue and if so, were you able to get it fixed? If you got it fixed, can you explain to me how I can do the same?

Thanks!

try and uninstall it and reinstall?

the cloud error is because you character did not save on the cloud so it technically does not exist to be deleted, short of a re install you could try clearing gta cache https://support.rockstargames.com/articles/115014753307/Cache-Clear-for-Grand-Theft-Auto-Online

hi, I appreciate the replies. I tried both before posting and neither one worked. I was fully expecting the clear cache to work since it appears to be a cloud error. Unfortunately that didn't work. I even tried deleting social club and creating a new one to see if I could start the online game over from the beginning and it doesn't work either.

you know that social club exists in three directories yes ?

Documents/Rockstar Games, C/Program Files/Rockstar Games and C/program Files (x86)/Rockstar games

also, if you do this it's a good idea to uninstall the R* launcher, re download it, restart your pc then install it again

this is the response I got from support when My character got corrupt in the same way.

Thank you for writing back.

Please perform a clean install of the Rockstar Games Launcher, please complete all of the following steps below:

Uninstall the Rockstar Games Launcher

Close any Rockstar Games titles that are running
Navigate to the Rockstar Games Launcher Installation folder
Default: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Launcher
Double-click the uninstall.exe program and uninstall the Rockstar Games Launcher
Leave the prompt to uninstall the game data unchecked.
Remove any remaining Rockstar Games Launcher and Social Club files

Once the uninstaller has completed, delete all of the following folders
NOTE: Do not delete any other folders or files as you may lose game save or other data.

(wherever it was installed previously)
C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Social Club

You have to contact Rockstar and wait.
And yes, it will take days. It took nearly 2 weeks for them to fix my issue.
