Uhhh. Yeah. There's tons of Mods for Single-Player/Story Mode.

Just don't go online with any mods installed.
Thouroughly wipe any traces before doing so
Know what you're doing!

I think 'most' (if not all) of these will disengage online - but do NOT take my word for it:

I think most of those "I Got Banned For NOTHING" posts are from users that are finding that out... don't be one of them...lol

You can yes. Otherwise, Rockstar Games doesn't have very good terms with the modding community.

Take Two has more of an issue with the modding community than Rockstar does.

No no no!
ANY and ALL mods are FORBIDDEN in GTAO.

Some mods automatically disable online, so you can't accidentally join and get banned.
Not all though, so you definitely have to know what you are doing.

If you do install mods, remember to delete the text file "DISABLEMODS". There should be an enable mods text file. Mods will not load as long as the "DISABLEMODS" is present.

can i just simply download a mod and put it in a mod folder or is it more complicated than that?

Sadly, Rockstar Games are far from being the good guys themselves. They've done shadier stuff like Take-Two before so both of them are just as bad.
