GTAV Auto Brightness Issue
Hello everyone, I'll try to keep it short. I would really appreciate if you could take the time to read.

I have recently gotten a new pc. R5 3600, GTX 1660S. I've installed GTA and I noticed that there is a weird sort of light flicker. The problem is that especially when it's dark, headlights, lights and streetlights cause the screen to dim and brighten up accordingly. It's extremely annoying. I never had this issue on my old pc and it's not a monitor issue. (footage can be seen in YouTube link attached) I've spent days trying to find answers and I have reset my pc, checked and unchecked about every windows setting there is related to HDR, DCR and all sorts of contrast and brightness settings. I've installed GTA on epic and on steam and I've tried a different monitor and resolution and hz setting. I can't fix it and I'm honestly on the verge of just selling my PC because my "main" game is GTA, and I upgraded PC for better graphics and performance. I would appreciate any help, input or even just tell me if you experience(d) the same.

I appreciate you guys.

Please provide some more hardware/software info.
Go to Steam > Help > System info.

Copy/paste everything Steam detects for you. Maybe we can find an issue there.

i think its normal. i have a 3080 and a 9900k and i run at about 120fps at 1440p. I see the dimming effect but it looks like how a camera aperture would open and close as the light became brighter under a street lamp.

it looks pretty normal to me though. maybe there is some brightness effect your monitor has that enhances this effect? its very subtle for me frankly.

i wouldn't sell my pc over this though, games all have their quirks about them. like Watch Dogs 2 has this strange flicker going from light to dark- its like the lighting can't handle the aperture changes and just gives out a flicker. no one else seems to complain about it but it is a known issue.
different systems probably show it differently and your resolution and fps would effect the transitions. Like i can't run WD2 past 60fps or that effect is completely unbearable. its like a strobe light for shadows.

doesn't stop me from playing it though.

that makes sense and I appreciate your input. the thing is that on my end it's very noticable like you just see the whole screen changing brightness and it hasn't got anything to do with my monitor because a different monitor has the exact same issue. if i could just "ignore it" i wouldn't have noticed it in the first place or written this thread :). I don't believe that there isn't a way to fix it and there should be someone who knows a fix I hope.

I also figured out that it doesnt have anything to do with my monitor and nvidia settings. I'm guessing there is an HDR setting somewhere that I can't turn off or the GTA game engine is very trash with me for some reason. I've reset windows completely already so I don't know where the issue could be.
