How does rockstar actually make money off of this?
When you consider how little money you actually get for real life money spent, it's genuinely surprising that this game is such a cash cow. Come on. $100 for 8 million? 8 million is a drop in the bucket, you could probably spend that in 20 seconds. To get even a decent foothold into starting the game you would have to blow $200. The shark cards seem so insanely overpriced I just don't understand who is actually buying them

What do you mean with proving? Do you think everyone thinks like you or do you think everyone has no access to money? I'm not rich but I don't have other hobbies and earn enough to be able to easily afford expenses like that. I sunk hundreds or even thousands into some games. GTA V I only bought a couple of shark cards over the years but still, that money I paid means nothing to me because I can easily afford it.

What do you want me to prove, that some people have money? Do you think everyone is living with an empty bank account?
i asked if you could prove it not your life story.

Can you proof that it is only kids that use their parents credit card? If you can't prove this, then this discussion is meaningless.

You proved his point. You don't value your money so you'll throw it away for useless things in video games.

The typical gamer these days have some kind of access to a credit card or have a decent cash in-come either via a decent paying job or living at home with mom and dad. It's not Rockstars fault dumb people buy shark cards or other useless things in another companies cash shop

Yeah spot on. Can't blame the publishers of the games if people are willing to spend these amounts of money. You would be stupid as a publisher to say no to this type of money. In the end it's about running a business and if people keep mindlessly buying stuff like shark cards then the business model works.

Pretty much. Even successful games like WoW have a cash shop, but it's usually for shop only mounts or items, unlike shark cards which I can make 200k every 15-20mins + passive business.

Why do you need so much money? All you need is a Kuruma and a pistol and you're sorted, then just a few bucks to make it rain on the strip club rail.

Oh and maybe a MOC to get a mk2 pistol, and a bunker for the MOC, CEO office for bunker, and a house to park your Kuruma in and play the Fleeca setup. Oh I guess it all adds up.

Pfft everything is cheap as ♥♥♥♥ in this game.

If you bought everything in the right order once you start doing heists getting all that first time completion bonus this game is EZ money

Edit: I've made over 35mill with just I/E a lone and it's a cheap business to start and fund

some people are casual, lives+jobs that exhaust them at the end of the day. they want to have fun, but don't have the luxury of "time" to make the money to buy "that awesome thing that costs <insert amount of gta$ here> in order to get it. so they buy shark cards. i have no life at all, so i have time to play, and to discuss this on forums with people who quite often insult me. and thats ok, because its all in fun ;) people just have fun in different ways.....

I refuse to buy fake currency in games, so I grind everything. My possibly autistic mind has no problems with just doing the same missions over and over for a few hours.

I've managed to achieve a yacht, CEO office, nightclub, bunker, that truck thing you get in the bunker, apartment, 2nd garage, special vehicle garage, special cargo warehouse, a couple of reasonably expensive (earlier) vehicles... It's not that hard if you take advantage of 2x cash events, try to wait for sales to buy the expensive buildings, etc.
