Is the sound only crackling? or is there a problem with the game kind of lagging.... as skipping a frame when moving....if you have windows 10 latest ver 2004 or 20H2 or something .... this is probably a problem to do with a bug in the OS.... <- me facing this problem

Crackling is 1 of 2 things: You have a bad connection to your speakers. OR your driver isn't handling the data stream correctly.

For number 1 you should hear crackling when you wiggle the wires.
For number 2 you need to verify your GTA V files in steam then download and install the latest driver for your audio chip. Use a clean install option if available by the driver.

I've experienced this in the past, and one day it just randomly stopped just like it randomly started. I use Corsair Void Pro Surround that connects with USB. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Does it happen with other games or just GTAV?

Where I live it gets dusty in summer, I have to blow in the holes where I plug in my headphpones like every month (compressed air can is the best way) and then no more static/crackling.

I have the same problem, and i solved it . I just had to disable the headset in the device manager and all works good. I hope that it will help you. Sorry for being late 😅
