How to disable rockstar editor/recording feature/hotkey shortcuts [solved]

so i just got gta 5 last night and first time ever playing it, love it so far but annoyed with the recording feature, i am completly unaware of recording clips in game and it wastes my hard drive space. is there anyway to disable this feature or move location of recordings or something ?

I don't believe you can stop the recording feature entirely, but the performance impact is very small and you can delete or move the clip files should any be created (Documents/Rockstar Games/GTA V/videos/clips). By default no recordings should happen without your direct input (or enabling the feature in the game settings to save a clip whenever you die). Also keep in mind the recordings are not video files in the traditional sense, but short engine recordings of what happened close by you in-game, the key difference being the clip files are usually in the area of 100mb if it's 60-90 seconds which is typically the max duration (depends on the amount of activity being recorded).

cool thanks had no clue about that, adjusted the size limit to 1gb and deleting small files isn't too bad really. also noticed but recording was inputted holding down the d-pad then pressing a on xbox controller

Sure thing, happy to help. It's a part of the game few players ever mess with, at least that would be my strong hunch, but can be useful for making short videos with custom camera angles/edits or fancy screenshots.

I'm having the most difficult time with controls for this game as well. Have had the game for years and never remember issues like this before. Accidentally recording stuff all the time and when I try to reverse it pulls up the radio wheel at the same time so I can't truly reverse.

Additionally, I go into Online mode and my right trigger works fine initially and then I hit it again and the chat window pops up. These issues are going to make me uninstall again.
