[1GB VRAM FIXED! NEW PATCH FROM R*.] 1GB Video Memory become 3 GB Video Memory??!!

something is wrong.. i can feel it.. i have only 1 GB of my video memory... but after update my game detect it 3 GB? and the game drop my FPS to 1 while driving vehicle... make this game unplayable while in SPEED.. is this the game failure or my imagination? im panic when the game detect 3 GB video memory, i quickly close the game to be safe..


EDIT : so i saw from Mr PeanutButter that the game demanding more spec every update.. if it's true, then this is THE BIGGEST DEMAND for small update like this.. recently rockstar decided to do this is like "hey boi, we kill low spec playerbase, go buy new pc if you want to play this game"... well, if that's the real situation, my 1000+ hours with all that money and business is useless, goodbye GTA Online, (even tho im still searching for THE FIX)

EDIT 2 : Thank you for all with the advice to low the graphic in graphic settings and config in gta folder... i really appreciate your advice.. but my problem is not that.. i already did that even before the update, before the update it running smoothly playable.. but after the update the game detected my 1 GB VRAM as 3 GB VRAM, and the game become laggy, stutter, and dropped fps.. the really strange one is that 1 GB VRAM detected as 3 GB VRAM in graphic settings..

UPDATE : i saw someone said they (R*) will FIX 1 GB VRAM problem guys.. here is the link i got.

UPDATE [9/9/2020]: 1GB VRAM OFFICIALLY FIXED BY R*! NO LAG, FPS DROP OR STUTTER ANYMORE! THE PATCH IS AROUND 160MB AND BEEN TESTED. ENJOY!

it is nothing new that R* ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up
happened now multiple times in the past
you can only wait till the next dlc because the company isn't known for releasing hotfixes, especially if only a minority of low end pc's is affected or pray for a talented modder who writes sp fix for the issue

doomday dlc had a language bug, which made it impossible to play certain old heist on foreign languages beside english. it was fixed after 3 month with the next dlc

There was another language bug, which triggered crashes for south american spanish user they had to change their windows language to spain spanish

ill gotten gains dlc also crippled the perfomance on certain machines and you had to wait until next dlc release

you can see same phenomenon on consoles where the normal ps4 already has a hard time to hand out a smooth game experience and there are also lags on ps4pro

maybe you are lucky and the issue will be solved by nvidia or amd with a release of new driver which is normally also faster than R*

so.. is that mean i just wait the FIX between Rockstar or Nvidia/Amd new driver update?

Both AMD and Nvidia kill architecture support after a few years, and the cards i imagine you people are using are not just dated, they're straight relics. If on the other hand Rockstar is going to "fix" anything, then they'll only do it come the big update, by the end of the year.

And fix is in quotes because nothings broken for 98% of playerbase, plus, i've already seen someone right in this thread test a 1GB card from some 10 or 12 years ago (a test YOU asked for), and he managed to run the game just fine. And quote

Like just the 30-45 min I just played on my 1gb card, it's def. playable online once you drop settings to lowest on DX11 and bit of frame scaling.

Maybe consider adjusting the settings to whatever you have to, or you folk can sit here for another 20 thread pages, figure out which ones best for ya.

I agree with everyone here about the graphics because not everyone is able to spend like a thousand dollars on a computer. I am just like captain duck, i play gta for fun and i dont need a gaming pc in order to enjoy it, i always got like below 20 frames but it was still playable and i enjoyed playing it. Though this update isnt allowing me to play gta, and there are so many people talking in this discussion, i cant read all of your guys' comments. Though i know that we all have the same problem cause most of us are low spec gamers. I am not a big pc gamer, i only have 3 games on my computer, though last month when i got gta, i couldnt stop playing it. I had so much fun playing it, and now for them to do this, it just breaks my heart. Since i know im not the only one, also i dont have 4 hour load times. I have about 20 minute load times for loading up gta. The first week i had gta i wasnt even able to load it up because i didnt know i needed a better computer to play it. Though on the second or third week of having it, i figure out freesync on my moniter which allowed me to be able to load up gta and play gta. So i am a low spec gamer and at this point im probably just rambling, but one thing i know for sure is that we need R* to fix this graphics sh*t.

Bro submit a ticket to Rockstar. Let them know your issue. More people report more chances to get a patch fix !

The person from rockstar support that responded to my ticket told me to verify my game files and that it fixes most issues. Though I haven’t checked out if it did anything yet and I can’t until Friday.

That is not gonna help, i did it my self as the first reaction on the low fps, and it doesnt change anyting, it is a bug from the last update

Yeah, I didn’t think it would. I am hoping that R* is working to fix the problem and hopefully has been since they released the update. Since this is a really big problem.

no problem.. if this is just hardware information it's fine.. just don't give your personal information such as email, id, password, or other important information.. giving hardware information to customer service isn't harming your pc..

R* isn't known for hotfix
if you are lucky you will see a fix in the big winter update

it is a mobile chipset issue aka only ancient laptops are affected
