Can't take photographs in GTA V

I have a mission, in which I have to photograph a dead witness, but - for some reason - my phone/camera won't take a photo.
The game is telling me to hit "x" to take a photo, but nothing happens when I press the X key (at the bottom of the screen it still says "Photograph the witness").

The dead witness is marked on the map, there is no-one else in the car nor in the immediate vicinity (so I haven't got the wrong person).

My keyboard bindings list (in the Cellphone section) tells me that "x" is "Photo Select", so X should be the right key to use.

The other day, when I was in a 2-person co-op mission, I couldn't take a photo either, so the other player did it. I thought, as a new player, I had just stuffed it up in the heat of the moment (with cops on the way, etc.), but it looks like it wasn't working then either.

I've tried adding a secondary key to "Photo Select", but that key won't take photos either.

Can anyone help please?

Did you try clicking as if firing a gun while looking through the camera?

You can select the camera when you bring the phone up from the icon :)

I've tried doing that, as well as which I've tried using every standard key on the keyboard (I didn't use the F1, F2, etc. keys).

The "x" works fine in choosing the camera on the phone display, and for all other things, but not for taking photographs.

No, I don't have any trainer or cheat or anything extra added to the game.
It's just the standard game.

I just checked. Default controls is just Enter, or A on the controller. So unless you've rebound them it should just work. The Controls show on the bottom right of the screen when you have the camera app open. Actually from your description it sounds like you just aren't using the Camera App at all. To access the Camera App just open up your phone with D-Pad up or Arrow Key up and go to the camera app at the bottom left. Select it with A or Enter and then just press A or Enter to take a picture

I'm pretty sure I checked everything at the time (and I checked with other people), so I'm assuming I accessed the Camera App.

Originally I did reset the keys, but when I couldn't get the camera to work, I'm pretty sure I reset the keyboard bindings to default, just to pass that mission.

However, I ended up uninstalling the game anyway - after being falsely banned (even though I never hacked or modded, or received anything from hackers or modders). One of many thousands, from what I hear.
