Failed to initialize critical data

Hello there as title says, I cannot access anymore gta. I used to be able to launch it by opening rockstar launcher manually and booting the game but now, since last launcher update, when I try it, the game simply won t open with no prompt on screen and steam just says it s running in the background.

I did read around and the solution seemed to start the game from steam without booting the rockstar launcher but ever since this new ♥♥♥♥ launcher was introduced I was never able to do that, always getting the error in title.

Launcher in D: (no folder) was immediately suspect. Further testing showed it was an issue (and most likely would be an issue for a majority of systems - put that stuff in a folder). Couldn't uninstall (also root) / or force reinstall for... whatever reasons ('most likely' drive space (c: under 100mb), temp folder issues (supposedly moved), or permissions /shrug).

Instead manually moved files to new location / changed associated registry install location.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Rockstar Games\Launcher

Also needed to change location for the rockstar games service.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Rockstar Service

Some other hiccups here or there - but extreme progress/working.

installing the launcher in root D was a big mistake to say the least, thanks for all the help)
