30-50 fps in gta, low CPU and GPU usage (40%)

Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with GTA since a couple of days.

It got worse with me doing a fresh install of windows 10 (education).

Average fps is about 40 in town and 60 in the desert but my GPU is at 40% usage and CPU about the same.

My config : CPU : Ryzen5 1500X ; GPU : Msi RTX2060 ;16Go of Ram; GTA is installed on an SSD.

Here are the things that I tried :

-Updating the drivers (GPU + Motherboard)
-Updating Bios
-Setting GTA5 higher priority
-Overclocking the RAM (2666 to 2800)
-Changing in game settings (medium high or ultra, it's pretty much the same fps but usage is a bit higher)
-Changing some things in the Nvidia Control Pannel
-Modifying windows settings to gain more perf in game (desable background stuff and more)

Before you ask : No, there isn't any core at 100% usage.
Yes, my setup works fine in other games.

I am out of ideas.

The solution for me was to install an old driver for my NVIDIA video card, specifically version 399.24

regardless of ur gpu u need to have grass on normal, msaa on 4x MAX

all advanced graphic settings down to 0 or off

game runs decent like that

I have downloaded an older driver and it seems to work better. Now I get about 50 fps in town but gpu/cpu usage is not that high! again, 50% both.

50fps is good for me but is there any way to have more ?

50fps is low for your setup

only other suggestion is try doing a 'clean boot' of windows

also remove any unused usb devices, even controllers

60 fps is plenty. 40 in the city is sufficient. Come back when it begins to drop below 25.

I've already done that.

That's really weird because when I bump up the graphics in ultra, the fps are pretty much the same but GPU usage is at 100%.
It's like the game doesn't want me to run faster.

If all the above fails then do a clean reinstall of Windows. Revert your drivers to the older driver if it automatically installs the newest one.

I have a 3800x paired with 32 gb of ram and a 2060s and the same thing happens to me often with up to date drivers.

yeah i am, i purchased an expensive setup too and expect it to run as advertised.
