Let's talk about Open IV

I for one disagree with the actions of take two but I can't help but feel odd it seems like all of this was rushed it all happens so quick it's like no one planned anything out from take two shutting open Iv down to rockstar responding its seems like it all was rushed like no one actually cared to sit down and look at the consequences of their actions I don't even know what's going on with the games industry anymore it feels like Hollywood so much controversy and drama

Well now the modders is doing a petition to step against this i don't know how is it going to work out... the hackers and cheaters is still going to find a way to continue what they are doing.... so it's kinda a mess right now

Open iv is a hackware enabling piece of malware filth garbage. Rockstar and Take-Two are brilliant for banning it. It's about time. That tool has been in use since GTA IV and the hackers ruined that too.

It's really too bad. OpenIV enabled a lot of fun mods for persons who didn't want to play online, but instead enjoyed the singleplayer part of GTAV.

Let's hope that rockstar and take two change their minds. I think the best thing we can do is keep voiceing our collective oppinion and keep out of any arguments that lead the community into the gutter.

Since i'm tired of writing the same thing over and over again i will just paste this here:

OpenIV is a multi-purpose file editor and archive manager, it isn't a Mod menu or any other type of online cheat in any way or form.

All of the online cheats we have relies on memory editing which doesn't require any file editing, extraction, injection any or Open IV feature at all, and such memory editors like Trainers, Menu mods, cheat engine are really good at tampering with online experience on P2P games.

But if you're so sure that Open IV was used to cheat, care to offer any example of cheats/hacks that used Open IV on its creation or as its base? No matter how much i search of i can't find a single example. It would work as hard-evidence as how it can be used to cheat online.

Also "Rockstar told me", is not hard evidence. We need solid examples. Not something that can be classified as damage control.

Edit: Something I would like to add is that even if you could warp OpenIV into a cheating tool, why bother? There are already script kiddies and other hacking/cheating tools out there that you can just donwload. Why take the time to change a single player only mod into an online hacking tool when you can just find and download a hacking tool from the internet?
