What is considered as griefing in this game?

So started playing with a new character from scratch and before I start making solo lobbies wanted to go through tutorial for some nostalgia... I am lvl 3 and getting repeatedly killed by a lvl 183. Since it takes more than 2 ppl to kick I wanted to report for griefing because I am losing money and ammo and at that lvl its kind of important since i dont have much but rockstar says if I don't adhere to their rules I will get banned for falsely reporting the player... and before ppl start saying there is passive mode, that thing doesn't work its literally for going afk you cant play the game at all in passive mode.

You can go into passive mode and avoid being targeted by higher level players. On controller hold down select button small button on left beside start button.

During a heist a player waits until the very end of the mission just to kill themself/disconnect and ruin the whole missing for everyone (don't play missions with randoms)

Parking a truck trapping people inside stores, including ammunations and clothings (commit suicide to escape)

Also when you suck at the game and you abuse of the votekick to kick them for playing the game as intended... (open world pvp sandbox)


If you want to do more than going afk in passive mode you have 3 choices

- Play in closed lobby with friends
- Lvl up and git gud
- Cry in the forum pretending it gonna change anything. Woops you did this one already

not crying just asked what griefing meant in rockstars point of view since I thought the punishment for using the option was a bit over dramatic. this some half helpful half toxic comment...

Guy was flying around in a chopper with explosive machinegun and rockets killing me and another low lvl player. After both verbally telling them to stop they still proceed while typing lol. We or at least I went into passive but hes just floating around waiting for me to undo it because he knows I will because unlike some of you he knows you can't do anything in the game with passive mode on. It's not a problem ill just create a solo lobby but still I thought this behaviour was grief worthy and here was my question. I am not crying in the forum I am just trying to understand what does rockstar define as griefing. Because the punishment for using this report option is ridiculous and I can fully believe they will ban u for it. Anyway thanks to the replies that answered that question. :)

Yeah his behaviour sucks but as mentioned, use a private lobby, friends only lobby, crew only lobby or passive to avoid this issue. Fortunately these chumps start this nonsense when im on with my crew and we just return the pestilence in kind until they quit.

At the end of the day, find yourself a crew you can game with that can help you stand up to the bullies. The state of San Andreas is one of gangsterism, where the biggest gun rules them all.

All missions within the open world lobby come with the risk of other players getting involved. GTA has multiple other game types to play in Online if the pressure of the open world lobby bullies gets to you. This is a fundamental element of GTA Online. You can make money through Mission Lobbies, so there is no major dependency on playing in the open world lobby. The money making processes in open world lobby are specifically designed for groups of people to complete. Being a lone ranger at low level will not get you very far.

You really have issues if you say it's the lvl 3's fault, he got raped by 183 idiot that wanted to boost his k/d and that it was not griefing after the first kill.

@Sayori, just find some players to do some heists with, the first few are easy and you will level up fast and in free lobbies, "passive" is your best friend if you don't wanna fight people with mental issue ^^

Just level yourself up in an invite only session bro. VIP sightseer/spam missions/races that have double RP/ $. Try make some friends in dispatch sessions to, in case you want to do those CEO missions that require you to be in a public session. Only disadvantage of invite only session is that you are limited on the big money making missions. Once you reach a comfortable level with some vehicles to defend yourself you should be good to go in a public lobby. That's what I did anyway. Reporting them won't do anything. There will always be a player that rampages a public lobby. That's just how they are to be honest.

And you can do everything in passivemode except shooting and kill yourself.
You can visit all shops, use nearly all vehicles, join every job/race/whatever.
You can even ram AI cars into players that are not in passive, doesn't help much vs a chopper, but always good to know ^^

sorry to hear you are lossing money whilst dying in game, some advice from me to NOT lose ANY MONEY while dying is to 'bank' your cash. use your phone or go to a ATM in game to deposit your cash, when you die from player PK you will not drop 500$ ( the max you will drop per death if you have over 5k on you )

also, as a PKer/tryhard/griefer/whatever else myself, i would say IMO, greifing to me would be this;

1 - a player who repeatedly kills another out side of a free roam event or defend mission related to any players owned nightclub, business's, CEO crates, or vehicle transport

2 - a player who disrupts another when doing such objective(s) listed above WITHOUT game consent. meaning bullying a player doing heist missions pre work to prevent them from doing it without the game actually stating it is "okay" to do so. popular events for this action would be, CEO car transport, some heist prep work, defending of MC business's ** not to be confused with free roam mission like business cargo for the nightclub

3 - disrupting gameplay while in menu's, this would be if a player is in a store, ammunation, or clothing store, hair stylist, benny's auto, or los santos customs. disrupting/greifing could be when another player blocks the doors, shoots the agent at the counter to close the store while you are shopping, blowing up the mechanic outside to insta lock you OUT of the shop, (and there would also be a possibity to lose money from this ) park cars in front of stores to lock you in.

there are MANY things players will SAY to you are griefing when in fact they are wrong or salty, a great example of this would be, and i ALLLWAYS get this, is when you blow up selling cargo, night club rep missions, MC sell missions, CEO sell missions. although players will say you are being a 'jerk' for griefing them whilst destroying their product, this is not true any sell mission(s) in game is a auto counter attack flag, meaning you ARE allowed to destroy others sell missions in game without losing character rep or have any repercussions(in game mechanically, through other players fighting back is another story) . players will only say you are griefing 'cause they dont obviously want you to destroy their crate. but in no means is it "bad" in game. you do even get rewarded for it. all depends on yourself if you choose to do it or not.

i could go on alot there is much to learn you are just starting out but that should give you a good idea of what i WOULD consider as griefing and things i dont do are those listed above, unless of course you are a sweaty try hard trying to out try hard me then yeah,...yeah ill get you always do....

erm you can do sight seeing you mean... in passive mode i cant do anything in open world where I would make money. If I wanted to start a gang attack or jack a car it wont let you. Can't do the bail bonds either since u have to fight them...

Hey im not new just started new character is all and this happened. Think this is the best reply ive had so far. Only thing is even if u bank cash u still lose money for dying (hospital fees).
