Same here, but with Ragehook. Plus the gta5launcher and gta5.exe both crash, re-downloaded gta5 executeables, even restored to previous August 12-2018, still crashes with no mods.

Windows 10 did update the Microsoft visual C++ (2013) and Defender definitions today...

You guys have some tough issues, where about are you crashing. Is it before Rage fully loads or is it before you go on duty?

both before rage finishes, and if starting gta5loader or gta5.exe without rage. I deleted everything gta, 30 minutes left to finish downloading a fresh install here.

Started download at 8:52pm PDT. It's now 10:45pm PDT. I figure by 11pm PDT I will see if GTA6 runs or not. If not, then it is probably because of Windows update.

Turning off Defender doesn't help, so I turned it back on.

I wonder what kind of file dependencies, if any, exist outside of the "Grand Theft Auto folder"?

I found a couple answers in the forums, took forever... Waiting for download to complete. One is "Unplus the gamepad". Another is any other stuff in the tray can interfere with gta5. "Afterburner" is one. I just remembered today I tried to play a MPG video file andI had to download (from microsoft) the MPEG 2 codec for whatever Windows 10 uses to watch videos... I will see what happens and report back. Download finished now...

unplugged controller, no extras running in tray, uninstalled MPEG2 extension, nothing I try fixes it. It ran yesterday, and this morning, but not his afternoon. Hopefully somebody figures this out.

Got it working after full GTA5 install. At first it didn't work, I even uninstalled some fairly recent apps. My solution was to manually run the Dxsetup file ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\DXSETUP.exe") and now offline mode works. Didn't try online yet, but I am sure it will work. It's now 1:30 AM. I am going to bed now. :)
