Buying again (Accounts question)
NEW THREAD:
I already have 2 Social Club Accounts, but only one of them has a copy of the game (non Steam) because I haven't bought it yet for this platform. I created the new one while I think about how to proceed...

Thinking on buying the game now, but I have another question...

If I buy now GTA V on Steam, can I get a CD Key so I can activate the game in Rockstar Social Club (to the new created account), and after that launch the game through Steam and link it to the old account?

Or if I buy the game here, I'd be forced to link the Steam game to an account through Steam only, being unable to activate the product key given through Steam on the Social Club? That would mean that I'd need to decide if I want to link it to the new created account if this is the only way to have 2 different accounts of the game so I can play with my girlfriends or friends in the future.

I just would like to have two accounts (because I made two purchases) but be able to link my old one (with my progress during the playtime) with the Steam version, without renouncing to have another account (with the key given through the Steam purchase, if it's possible) in the Social Club.

Hope this dilemma can be undertood.

Thanks for the help

OLD THREAD:

Hey guys,

I already have a GTA V account with a Rockstar key created some years ago. Now I'm thinking about buying the game again so I can have it here on Steam.

That's why I'm wondering what will happen if I do so.

First, I'd like to know if I'd be able to create a new account with this purchase, so I can have two copies of the game (one on Rockstar and another now here Steam). If I do so, can I switch between both accounts through Steam? If not, I wont mind to start again here...

But another question. If the Rockstar account email is the same as the one of Steam, will the game authomaticly link my old account with Steam?

So...the best for me would be to have two accounts, even if I need to start again here, because the other other one will be free for my girlfriend to play with me. But if I can switch between them so I can still play my old character through Steam that would be fantastic!

if you have 2 account (bought gta v twice) then you can have both the steam version and r* version and are able to play with anyone else usiing one of the other accounts granted its on a diff pc. however if the social club is the same then i would advise setting up a new social club so it doesnt transfer over otherwise you would have wasted alot of money

Thanks for the reply. And sorry, but I don't know if I understand your answer.

You mean that if the email is the same in my old Rockstar account and on Steam that account will be authomaticly linked to the Steam bought version, meaning that I will only have one account?

Wich is exactly the procedure when you buy this game here on Steam, you can make a new Rockstar account with the Steam key?

Example :

1- GTA 5 Steam + R* Social Club A
2- GTA 5 R* + R* Social Club B

For that, in my opinion, and only mine, you should better have a different e-mail for creating the 2nd Social Club account. In order to not taking any "risk".

But if you want a real good info about that, go to R* Support and tell them directly.
Official info will be better than our own opinion.

Each copy of your game will have to be linked to a seperate R* account. You can only have one copy of GTA V per Steam account. Each Steam account can only be linked to one R* account.

Sorry for the UP, but I'd like to know this before the offer expires xD

To my knowledge - LA Noire, and Maxpayne 3 - also create a steam link to social club accounts - or did in the past. That said - you've got 1 of them. Highly likely your steam is already linked. If you bought gtav on this steam account - that is where gtav is going.

Thanks for the info, didn't know that. So that means that buying the game here on Steam will make me have bought two copies for the same account, wich means that I wont be able to use them in a separate way to play coop. Bad news, but good to know before buying!
