How can I replay missions without starting a New Game?
I've completed the story with 100% completion. Now I want to go back and replay missions where I didn't get the Gold medal. In the menu, I go to Game -> Replay Mission and then I select a mission I want to replay. But that doesn't seem to work (there's a confirmation screen asking you to continue but it won't go past that). Can missions be replayed at all or is this just a bug?

I really don't want to start a New Game because in my current save file not only do I have 100% completion, but I've also collected every possible thing there is to be collected in the game (I can confirm that Peyote collectibles work with PC). I also want to keep all the cash and weapons I have.

So how can I replay missions I've played without starting a New Game?

My game with the new dlc/etc lets me replay missions fine so... here's a few things to test.

Open my documents (with gtav closed) - create a copy of the rockstar games folder.
Stick it right there - rename it to rockstar games-100%saves or whatever.
(this will be the working backup of your local saves - unless you use cloudsync)

Next, go into the original my documents / rockstar games / gtav / profiles / <profile name> folder
Delete pc_settings.bin and cfg.dat
Exit steam, rightclick steam, run steam as admin - and try gtav / replay a mission.

If it doesn't work-
Rename my documents / rockstar games to rockstar games - edited.
Start gtav til home menu and go through the config screens. Exit gtav.
Open up my documents / rockstar games-100%saves / gtav / profiles / <profile name>
Copy all the sgta*.* files - and put them in the new/correct location - of the newly created folder-
my documents / rockstar games / gtav / profiles / <profile name>
Try gtav again.

Still don't work? Are you using/enabling cloud saves? Don't. Try as local saves only.
You could also try a commandline.txt in the gtav folder... and put " -scofflineonly " inside of it. Just as a test to prevent gtav from touching online stuff.

You could also try deleting/renaming this directory and see if it helps with anything--
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games

And.. of course - if you are using any mods/menus/trainers - I'd remove them all.

I imagine some others causes could be permissions/controlled folder access, etc on the folders but... that should technically be also giving you problems with loading the game.

Or the save is simply corrupt/mangled/bugged.

Psykoteky, thanks for the reply. I tried everything you mentioned but nothing would allow me to replay missions. This is exactly what happens: I press the Esc key -> Game -> Replay Mission, and then select a mission, I will get the following alert:

"Alert: Before replaying a mission, the game will create a restore point. Once the replay has ended you will be returned to this point. Do you want to continue?"

After selecting Yes, that same alert appears again. Even after I keep selecting Yes, that alert just continues to appear and no mission can be replayed. And this happened after doing everything you recommended above. Is this a bug?

I have a clean copy of GTA 5 installed with no mods, trainers, or anything else added to it. Do you know of anything else I could try? I'd really like to replay some of those missions.

Also, which new DLC did you install? I didn't think GTA 5 had any DLC's.

DLC... new update.. its free.. if gtav on steam is updated - correctly, to 1.43.
(it is not some steam visible dlc)

You can doublecheck you are current here-
Open my documents / rockstar games / gtav / launcher.log - it will should have this----
"Version: |1.0.1365.1|1.2.3.8|1.0.1365.1|FSP"
If not - here is a link to the newest appmanifest to help force steam to update gtav-

I was simply manipulating your gtav / save games folder - permissions/etc. Same with a few other files known to cause problems. For all we know - the savegame itself could be corrupt. Only you can test that - it would take a few minutes to create a new game / prologue and do a mission.
(If you made a backup of your saves - then whatever~)

Haven't tested around to see "where" if anywhere... that save game/restore point is created.

Could always upload your savegame somewhere and I can test it on my setup and see if it has issues - might help to rule out a corrupt savegame~ Or - you grab some other 100% save with bronze medals or whatever - and try that.

As far as the achieves - I doubt that steam's wipe. I really doubt R*'s will either.
That's something you'd be better off googling~
(My R* achieves have my first/old dates - and I've restarted story/done halfgame 4-5x now)

In Steam, when I click DLC, I only see Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack for GTA Online but I don't see any DLC for the single player game. Is there a way I can tell if I have the most updated version? Edit: I read your updated post and checked in the launcher.log file and I do have the version you mentioned: Version: |1.0.1365.1|1.2.3.8|1.0.1365.1|FSP

If I create a New Game and start over again, what's going to happen to my Rockstar checklist? This is different than the in-game 100%, I'm talking about the Rockstar checklist where it lists every single mission available and the ones you've completed (it lists much more than what's needed to get the in-game 100%). If I start a New Game, will that Rockstar checklist get reset and start over as well? It took a very long time to get all of those so that's why I'm reluctant to start a New Game. How about Steam achievements? Will those get reset if a New Game is started or will your previous achievements still be recorded on Steam?

I've posted this in another thread but I thought I should add it here since it's the topic of this thread.

I was finally able to replay a mission but only after loading my earliest game save, which was about two weeks ago and it was at 79.5% completion. The rest of my game saves are at 99.5% or 100% completion and when loading one of those, none of them worked in replaying a mission. So I'm pretty lucky that I chose to save that particular game save two weeks ago. It's the only game save, 1 out of my 16, that can replay a mission.

Do you by chance have a game save that is at 100% completion? If so, can you try loading that and see if you can replay a mission? Maybe after a certain point in the game, the bug happens at close to 100% completion. I did read someone else having this problem too and they solved it by going back to an earlier game save but they didn't specify what percentage completion that game save was at.

I should note that the first "bug" I noticed in this game was when I was maximizing the characters' money in the stock market after completing the Big Score. All characters' money maxed out at $2.1 billion and some change. Even if the characters earned more money, it would not increase past this amount. My 79.5% game save occurred BEFORE this money bug. All of my other game saves occurred AFTER hitting the $2.1 billion ceiling with each character. So maybe this money bug has something to do with the missions not replaying.

did you manage to solve it?

No, I wasn't able to figure it out, but using the old game save that did work at 79.5% completion, I was able to get Gold on all the missions. Are you having the same issue? I'm actually surprised that not a whole lot of people have complained about this.

you can do it, in the pause menu, there's a missions statistic tab or something like that, with the list of missions, you can select any of them.
