Need Help Chosing The Best Overall Settings! (GTX 1060 6GB)
Hello everyone, I would like some advice on the best settings for this game. What I would like is the best visual settings and performance settings. I would Like to try and get Ultra Looking Graphics and 60FPS. So If you comment please let me know what settings cause an FPS boost and don't make a noticeable difference. Right now the game looks great but sometimes depending on the area My FPS go from 60ish to around the 40s with the lowest i've seen being 37. Now this doesn't cause stutter for me at all and is still playable and enjoyable. I just want to see if there is anything better I can do. If you have similar specs to me please leave a comment!

Oh boy MSAA x4 and grass on ultra.

Anything in advanced settings should also be turn off.

I would recommend Softer or Softest shadows instead of NVIDIA PCSS, which can have a pretty major performance impact (in my case around a 15fps drop with it enabled) and the special shadows just don't look good IMO. I'd also toy with reducing the Distance Scaling and increasing the Extended Distance Scaling (in the Advanced Graphics panel), maybe around 50% for both, but then tweak the settings using the benchmark as a guide to minimize obvious pop-in. Grass on Ultra I'd say is also a stretch with that particular card and maybe a bit of a waste at sub-1080p resolution as that's definitely very demanding. At 1366x768 you could also get away with reflection MSAA at 2X or 4X with little or no apparent change in quality.

Lastly, I'd recommend finding a way to get Ambient Occulsion up to Very High, as that maxed I think really improves the look of the world compared to some of the other settings you have cranked up.

Msaa can be turned off its too heavy on performance for very little gain you're fine on just FXAA. Or at least use FXAA and MSAA x2. The TXAA isn't worth it as for other settings grass can be put to very high differences between ultra are little to none. You get slightly further render distance on grass and more shadows.

Tessellation and Ambient occlusion can be put to high and normal since the difference betwen the settings is basically nothing. Also shadows should be set to softest.

put shadows on high. on very high, even my 1080 sees drops. don't put reflections on ultra; you will soon see why when you do the submarine mission and the fps dies...
