Airpods not working with GTA5?

So when im out and about i dont wanna carry my headset around and just wanna use my airpods. they work fine in any other game i play, new or old. (far cry 5 and Dawn of War being examples).
but when starting GTA5, i get the first second or so of the intro sound of sirens and shots... then dead silence. i can alt-tab to something else and get sound fine.
I've tried setting them to default audio device, disabling all other audio devices and nothing is helping. I've tried reconnecting them after being in the game, but nothing helps there either.

anybody else noticed this issue? or anybody use airpods without issue?

I have AirPods as well and I had that problem, instead of connecting and going into the game, load up the game as usual and go into story mode or online and then connect. I don’t know if it’ll work for you but it worked for me, I hope this helps.

what i did was when i got into story mode i go to settings and hover over display click it once then scroll down

i have airpods too i can hear but when i open gta v voice is gone

i also play with airpods and had the same problem. I just went to the settings and scrolled with the mouse wheel through every setting
