Will modding get me banned?
I just recently got GTA V, and downloaded a trainer, and a few cars to play around with in story mode. I've heard that having any mod files in game when you go online can get you banned and I just want to be sure about it. I'm obviously not going to use the trainer or spawn any cars in when I'm in GTA online, but can I still get banned just for having the files there, even if I don't use them online?
I saved GTA V to another HDD before I started modding just incase. I just don't wanna have to run it off that drive to go online because it's a much slower drive than my main.

before the whole banning thing, when modding singleplayer was cool, you just weren't allowed in gta online, it wouldn't let you sign in until you deleted the files. but if you do somehow get in online, and have the files still in there, it might cause a server file difference and either crash the gamefor everyone in the server lobby or the more likely outcome, get you banned from the social club, which in turn takes your gta v account away.

To answer OP's question:

Modding in singleplayer will NOT get you banned.
Modding in online WILL get you banned.

You have remove the extra files you put into GTA folder before going into Online and you are fine.

Single player modding is not getting you banned. You just need to avoid connecting online with mod files.

just block gta from going online with some firewall and when you done with the mods uninstall and unblock gta

Coming from a singleplayer modder, no you most likely will not get banned. Mods that are installed by dragging files into the directory do not activate when you play online, making you pretty much safe. My GTA folder is full of mods but I am not banned because they do not work in online. You are almost definitely fine, but if you really are paranoid then you can just move the mods out of the GTA folder when you want to play online.

Nice joke.

ScriptHookV has not been updated yet and last time I tried, I got a fatal error. I wanted to have some fun in singleplayer for once.
How did you get a trainer for single?

Going online with files that are unofficial, eg. shaders, will get you banned. Learned the hard way in June 2016. Delete all files that are unofficial from your GTA V folder if going online.

Thanks guys, It's kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in my opinion to get banned for having them installed. I mean, I haven't figured out replacing GTA files when I install cars, so I just use openIV and do everything as an add on.
For Valkorion asking how I got a trainer for single I use "simple trainer for GTA V" Here's a link: https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/simple-trainer-for-gtav
Set up is easy as can be, just extract it after you download. I use 7zip, there's two files, one is TrainerV.asi and Trainerv. I've heard people refer to it as trainerv.ini but, on my PC it just says trainerv. Windows 7 shows the "file type" as configuration settings, so look for that. Copy those two files into your GTA directory, and start GTA. The trainer will be installed, you open it used F3, and navigate through it with the num pad on your keyboard.

Just quoting because of how wrong this is - not meaning any offense.
The last scripthook update - http://www.dev-c.com/gtav/scripthookv/
And- as of earlier tonight - it still worked just fine.

You'll also need it for the above mentioned simple trainer~

It has been updated? I got a fatal error last time I tried, a week ago.

A fatal error with.. what. Scripthook disagree'n with your current version of gtav?
Manually update scripthook.
A fatal error because mods/scripts/etc in your folder are causing a crash?
Clean/sort it out.

I downloaded ScriptHookV, 17th december updated one, and before that I had verified my game cache and deleted all unofficial files. I don't know.

Weird! Now it seems to work. Game started up without the error. Fun time on singleplayer beginning.
