But, can you like join people who are hosting it? Like not own a penthouse and just join others and help them finish the first mission until the last so that both of you can unlock it?

My friend finished all mission as host and owns no penthouse, so he got no paragon.

The Armored Paragon is not worth buying a Penthouse for, if that's the only reason you want to buy it. Can take like one missile, but is otherwise useless.
