just what i've tried on the machines i have.
970,
960,
1060,
2060,

i think one is a 1070 or 1080 too .. not sure

on all cards.. reducing game memory size to less then 1500mb and everything on normal or maybe off. and sometimes in french.. is working well enough to play a hour or so.

guys dont forget to restart ur machine inbetween crashes.
do not shut it down incase that snapshot crap happens..
not how windows use to shut down anymore!!!

My son HASNT updated his GEFORCE GAME READY driver for a while he's on Version 431.60...

He's had 1 CRASH since i bought the game for him last week, that one time was Geforce prompting him to update to the latest driver.... this evening in fact.. thats what drew my attention to it.

i told him to stop the update... he was quick enough to click it and still he hasnt crashed all week, nor this evening.

my older son also has the game, he's been crashing all week. he and i have Game ready driver version 436.15

maybe clone his hard drive... then let him update it to see if it messes up.. and if it does u got the clone so you'll be back in a few minutes

Until yesterday I had version 398.36, when the crashs already starts. :DD ... Now I have the latest version (436.15). I doubt the newest Update is the reason.

I'd rather roll mine back but i dont know how, the device manager method has no option for me, if theres another im all ears. im almost convinced its the driver at this moment in time. the only other difference pretty much is he has i5's and a 970, but my other boy has i7's and a 970 and he has crashed all week.

Prexxi thanks for the heads up i'd still like to roll mine back one just to check

....
I haven't being updating my driver either..I think I'm still using back from Oct. 2018 and yet no crash.

sorry i ever doubted you Prexxi i think its a false alarm now. i rolled back the driver to 431.60 and it still crashed. i think im all out of ideas for now,

my son isnt crashing tho so i have something to go on maybe. i've told him not to update ANYTHING. His settings are even on ultra, so i dont know what the fudge is up here.

another glaring difference between our machines is he has i5's and i have i7's.

( my other crashy son also has i7's )

both sons have 970's, i have a 980....

i feel like its a fudging logic puzzle or something, thats why its doing my head in i think.

there was a windows update that fudged my missus laptop up about the same time last week as well, she spent a day trying to get into her text documents cos of it (something like that)

also i've just realized the irony of playing a driving game, and trying to figure out what drivers are causing the crashes....

Most of the crashes are happening with the 900 series Nvidia cards. Rockstar is aware of this and working on a fix. I would suggest doing a 'fresh install' of a driver for your 900 series dating back before the Casino update. Start with 419.67 (March of 2019). Download the driver directly from Nvidia and perform a 'fresh install' of that driver. You will have to click beta and older drivers to get it.

GeForce GTX 970 with 436.15 drivers

When I play, I crash 1 - 2 times after 10 - 20 min and then I'm able to play 2 h straight xD
