Rockstar games launcher error saying "an instance of grand theft auto 5 is already running. please allow the game to fully exit before attempting to play again"

Everytime i try to open gta 5, the rockstar launcher will say that the game is already running but its not. I tried everything, restarting my pc, still nothing works. With or without mods, it still does the same.

anyone have the same problem?

Still a problem, tried all suggestion and deleted and re-installed the game. I still cant play it, "it is already running" process IS in task manager running, cannot close it "Access denied"?
Rockstar please fix this.
It will suck if I go to launch red dead and it tells me "No, Gta is still running"

I can play but my brother still cannot this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks. There goes playing red dead 2 co-op as well, ♥♥♥♥.

To fix this issue for everyone else.
Follow these steps as follows:

1. Delete GTAV.exe from your GTA V Directory

2. Uninstall Rockstar Games launcher / Social Club. <-- followed by a reboot/restart.

3. Log back in, and verify integrity of GTA V's files.

4. Press Play once all is completed.

It still does not work for my brother. I have tried quite a lot of things. None of them have worked.
Reinstalling the entire game did not work, restarting PC did not work, Validating files did not work. Deleting and reinstalling the social club did not work. Deleting the cloud saves for gta did not work. Deleting gta5.exe and validating did not work.
I give up, for my brother it just does not work And I am sick of trying to make it.

Vcredists, .netframeworks, system files can also be corrupt and cause these. Not installing social club / rockstar launcher as admin can cause issues. Not running steam, gtav, and r* launcher exe's can cause it it. Some, need that all removed /cleaned - and reinstalled again - varies per system. 3rd party background programs, av, security can interfere too... (ontop of the obvious, if it is infact - running, and slow, because processes crashed/hung/taking forever on launch or do presetups). Doesn't even remotely cover all the other gtav issues - or new users routinely having multiple problems.

Have fixed this problem plenty of times. The problem is the changing solutions - like nearly every other gtav error, people not following instructions, not doing instructions because 'their system is fine', on and on.

People aren't very receptive/want help when they want to scream the launcher is at fault and you tell them - no, your pc/os/files/something on your end - is at fault. R* doesn't test this stuff on all kinds of bloated/mangled pc's like people attempt to run it on. In the last 3 days I've fixed 4 systems where the user had straightup copied/replaced files in system32 - and didn't mention it until I either noticed them in downloads, noticed they were x86, and finally turned to straight asking - and they weren't even initially replacing this files 'for' gtav - but for other applications. -.-

Info I've used to fix R* launcher problems countless times. -Perhaps- something there will be of use - barring more details, info, things tested/tried, etc to further narrow it down.

yeah but still cant run the game, same issue yet, i've done lot of things like verify files integrity, set to run as adm, and etc, have u a solution for it?
