The new launcher can't update Social Club

I installed the new Rockstar Games Launcher yesterday. I'm pretty sure I did everything right but after installing the prequisites I end up with an error message saying this:

A newer version of the Social Club is required. The updater may have failed. Please exit the game and install the latest version of the Social Club: https://support.rockstargames.com.

I tried reinstalling the launcher and it didn't work. I tried deleting the Social Club files and I get a different error message saying that I don't have Social Club, so I undid that deletion.
I tried contacting Rockstar Support and I got no solution.
I also tried running the launcher as an administrator and when it was installing the Social Club prequisites I got this error message from windows:

Social-Club-Setup.exe - Application Error
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b).
Click OK to close the application.

I think that means the Social Club updater isn't starting up for some weird reason, and the message pops up 4 times. Also note that I have the Social Club version of GTA V.

Good thing I can use -scofflineonly so I won't be forced to use the new broken launcher. Hopefully Rockstar doesn't remove that useful command line option.

c00007b for installing social club in the past has been controlled folder access or mandatory ASLR interfering. Both options are in windows defender. You can add the new socialclub installer to controlled folder access exclusions to see if that helps - or disable those options (or disable/install/re-enable - remembering that it may cause issues in the furture). It is also possible for other 3rd party av/security to cause this/prevent installation.

Haven't tested it with the new launcher, c00007b's would also bounce for missing/not updated media feature pack for windows N/KN, or corrupt/missing directx files.

Old info I have on it -

"For social club setup.exe -
Win10 Update - mandatory ASLR / controlled folder access CAN cause problems.
Mandatory ASLR - disable. (or add exception for each program in Windows Defender).
Controlled Folder Access - disable, or... can leave on, but add exceptions for-----
gta5.exe, gtavlauncher.exe, program files/rockstar games/social club/subprocess.exe
(if you've used registry edits to enable them/disable windows defender/etc - undo it)
Also throws same error when interfering with social-club-setup.
(add it to whitelist/exclusions too)"


Obviously the .exe names might change - and if controlled folder access is infact on, you may also need to add it for the launcher, and the launcher install locations' .exe's, the newer social club exe which is socialclubhelper (not subprocess), and possibly playgtav. Haven't sat down and tested all those with/without whitelist yet. Always a pita - CFA. -.-
