[FIXED] GTA V "Already running" when the Rockstar Games Launcher is open
If I try and play GTA V through Steam or the Rockstar Games Launcher, it tells me that its already running even though it isn't. It seems to thing the Rockstar Games Launcher IS GTA V and won't let me play GTA V at all. Anyone know a way around this? I'm beginning to seriously hate this new launcher.

SOLUTION: Just always run the launcher as an admin, run GTA V from the launcher, and don't have steam running when you play GTAV.

Not having steam open to run a steam game is a bit silly but there you go.

GTA Doesn't show up in task manager, that's the thing
Only the launcher does
If I end the launcher process it says GTA isn't running but when I start GTA through steam it opens the launcher and then nothing happens. I press play on steam it says "already running" and the same happens when I press play on the launcher

1) kill steam in process manager
2) run r* launcher and click play
worked for me

That didn't work for me. However, I found another kind of solution! If none of the exes are set to open as administrator (especially PlayGTA.exe), then it works. Neither RS launcher nor any of the gta exe files in its directory. It worked for me. However, sometimes it decides to put PlayGTA5.exe into administrator mode again. It's weird.

A friend of mine had the same problem....
1. Uninstall Social Club and Social Club Launcher
2. Delete GTA5.exe file from your gta folder.
3. Restart your pc.
4. Verify game files (epic games/steam).
5. Start the game.

Hope it helps, it worked for us :).

GTA5.exe never shows up in Task Manager, if you wanted to kill it;

1) Run command prompt as admin
2) Execute 'Taskkill /IM gta5.exe /F'

Make a batch file so it's an easy fix every time it happens, just put this in and save it as killgta5.bat. It's not an ideal or permanent fix, more of a safe failure

Nothing else worked for me but this, thank you. I'm not sure how to make a batch file unfortunately so I'll just do it manually everytime - thank you again.

I found a solution even though this is an old thread. I first went to Task Manager > Performance Tab > Open Resource Monitor > Right-Click GTA5.exe > End Process.
Now I can do this without restarting my computer all the time when I can't launch GTA5. Hope this works for someone in the future.
