You have to restart the game. Not new session, but game restart helps.

is it not amazing how often the advice of "have you tried restarting it" actually works.... do people have no initiative at all anymore these days? apart from asking for help right away?

As much sense as your comment makes: I think it's mostly because some people simply tend to stress out hard before they come around to just do the obvious.
