What is point of interest mean on the map?

Point of Interest or POI is a map mechanic used in the game. if you find a cool place that you would want to revisit such as the altruist cult area then open the map and place a point of interest so you can revisit it whenever you want without scrambling to find it or check online for it, its very useful

You use alternative graphic programs to create specific maps for guides or tutorial.
I never used this feature, i didn't know it exists.
can you export the map and use the pois in other scripts?

as i said i never needed it
i can remember all points of interest and i use paint to edit maps for guides.
It is enough to add pois in screenshots.
