Game is stuck at 800x600 resolution.
The game worked fine this morning, but after this recent Windows 10 update, I tried playing and it is stuck at the lowest possible resolution. I can switch to windowed, borderless, and fullscreen, but it is always at the lowest resolution and it does not let me rotate through other options.

There have been other posts about this, but none of the solutions have worked for me that others have claimed worked.

I have gone to Documents/Rockstar Games/ GTA V/settings.xml and deleted it, did not work. I have gone into that setting to manually change the resolution, but it was already set for a width of 1920, and a height of 1080. I have changed the file to Read Only and that didn't help.

I have used GeForce Experience to force a resolution change, which makes my game bigger but windowed, and when I go into the game's settings it still only shows the lowest resolution options.

Same issue here, can't find a fix. Even uploaded a screenshot of my options menu.

What's really strange is that up until a few days ago, I was able to play the game flawlessly with no issues whatsoever.

So what changed a few days ago?
Corrupt'd gtav settings?
Windows updates?
Driver updates?
New hardware?
Other software?
All suspect.

It was the Windows 10 Update that changed. I'm certain it caused it but have no idea how to fix it. Would restoring my PC to an earlier time remove the Windows update?

(sounds like youve tried all these already)

(one guy in the second thread mentions changing the scaling)

Except changing scaling is rendered entirely useless by either-
deleting settings.xml or renaming the my documents / rockstar games folder.

Unless something else is changing the settings... ala - geforce experience/etc.
(to which I say - uninstall that junk and rule out it's interference for now)

Go to your main GTA 5 folder, should be something like this: C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V
Double-click the commandline.txt (if it doesn't exist yet, create it ...)
Enter the width: -width "number"
Enter the height: -height "number"
(Enter the number without quotation marks)
Save the file and launch the game ...
Your problem should be solved now.

Great advice, i honestly dont know why people still install Geforce Experience!

I'm amazed, this actually worked.

I was just doing this before I decided to check this discussion again. Hopefully it works but I'd still like to know why this suddenly happened after the Windows 10 update. Everything was fine this morning.

The command didn't even work for me, something is keeping it at the lowest resolution. I'm going to look into GeForce Experience now but I don't know why that would have suddenly changed after the Windows 10 update.
Uninstall Geforce Experience, best decision you will make, trust me!
