Need to mod a dlc xml that already has 20 changes and is known to work? Make a copy.
(and- if you haven't messed up the vanilla/default one)
You are just reseting the mods dlclist to the vanilla dlclist.
You still have to correct it and add all the other stuff BACK in that wasn't backed up.
Virtually no different that simply deleting the update.rpf and putting a vanilla copy back in.
Start over.
I'm being dead serious when I say - start over.
Install 1 thing. Test. Install 1 thing. Test. Install 1 thing. Test. Install 1 thing. Test.
You have 4 things installed. Make a backup of your current mods folder.
Name it Mods - 4 things working.
Install 1 thing. Test. Install 1 thing. Test.Install 1 thing. Test. Install 1 thing. Test.
You have 8 things installed. Make a backup of your current mods folder.
Name it Mods - 8 things working.
Continue onwards.
If something breaks - you can easily revert without having to undo and not mess up stuff.
You'll only bounce back 4 mods if you backup/rename properly.
Of course the size of these backups will add up so maybe only float 2 of them.
(Have mods 12 and 16? Delete 4 and 8 - etc)
(remember, the above only applies to the mods folder, unless you want to keep track of scripts/files in the gtav folder too...)
Also- just because you installed a certain gameconfig - doesn't mean it will always work for everything you install. At some point you could reach the limit of your pc/config and require it to be tweaked yet again for what you are trying to accomplish.
And - if you replaced the update.rpf with a vanilla one again to fix the dlclist as mentioned above instead of fussing around and not providing full info for actions taken today...
You've nuked the gameconfig unless you've reinstalled it again - TODAY.
(Which means - install the gameconfig again to be sure it is there)
