Can't take cover in first part

Can anyone help me.

I've just started playing and got to the part where I have just picked up the money and then run round the corner and the guy says 'take cover' so I go to the spot marked by the yellow dot and crouch and the guy says again 'take cover' so I try moving around and then back again and take cover as best I can but nothing happens. I've looked online at the walkthoughs and the when the player moves to exactly where I go to the other guy sets the charge and the door blows but this doesn't happen for me. Been trying for about 40 mintues now and can't get past this point - anyone any ideas what I'm doing wrong (I'm playing on a PC if it makes any difference).

Take cover means when you hug the wall.

Hit Q to take cover, you'll crouch if behind a short object, or put your back against a wall. Just hitting the crouch button won't do it.
