Solved: "Unable to Initialize DirectX 9 Device."
I don't think its a driver problem since I've had a similar thing happen to me on Battlefield a couple of months ago and it had more to do with the game becoming less optimized and throwing DX9 out the window. I've never had any problems starting this game before. Can anyone help me?

Edit: Also unable to play EA games for reasons of not meeting minimum requirements.

Doesn't matter. DDU your gpu drivers, reinstall them. Try again.

Well it does matter. Since when did we have to update drivers every two months for the SAME problem?

Let me rephrase. It doesn't matter what you think. Ddu and reinstall the drivers. Rule it out. It has been shown time and time again that windows os and driver updates can cause problems on some systems. Hell- on some systems geforce experience can't even autoupdate properly.

Gta v isnt bf. This error the majority of the time lately... is from garbage, wrong, or corrupt drivers.

Not sharing the same aproach to a recurring problem. Thanks anyways.

If you won't even attempt a driver reinstall, you aren't worth helping. I do know that more things can cause problems than just drivers, but they are such a common and recurring problem on so many systems that to ignore that possibility is just ignorant.

Because you asked nicely.

Drivers updated. Problem not fixed. Any other possibilities?

Switched from Auto-Select to Nvidia High Performance Processor. No success. :V

try disable optimus in bios?

Correct, checking that the gpu control panel is set for the specific gpu was in the link above.
Did you manually reinstall gpu drivers? Windows find the drivers? Geforce autoupdates?
Did you restart the computer after installing the new drivers - even if it didn't ask?

Did this "just happen"? Or did it specifically happen after... one of the above? Various driver updates in the past have had issues and needed older versions reinstalled. That is why I mentioned OS/driver updates, even game patches/updates/fixes "could" cause these - depending on what they were(lets not even get into ridiculous av/security apps/measures that can interfere... or should we..?). Personally - haven't updated gpu drivers in 2 years - and no recurring issues.
(granted - I don't run alot of the new games.. but still - using gtav as a baseline? zero issue)

I always just use the steps in the link above - verify("fix" possible mod use), vcredists, directx, ddu, reinstall gpu drivers (sometimes older ones). There were a couple other things in the above link - however none of them have been necessary in any of the many many times I've been approached to help fix the problem. That doesn't mean they they aren't worth checking into. Some of them if I remember correctly, spanned clean back to release - where drivers were having problems, updating, or adding game compatability. (where workarounds like - disable gpu, start game, enable gpu - were a common tactic til drivers were up to speed (or properly updated).

Hey you could try verifying the game cache, if that fails then try unistalling and then reinstalling GTA V completely (dont use verify) or you could try to reinstall direct x useing the setup package in the gtav folder.

Sounds like your laptop has both graphics systems active. Disable the intel HD graphics in the bios, if you can.
