[SOLVED] How to fix XBOX ONE Controller not working problem.

Having started playing this game again recently, the controller was not working. Searched Google and various forums, but nothing was working, finally, after poking around I found the fix in the settings:

Right-click your steam taskbar icon
Choose Settings
Click Controllers (at the bottom)
Click General Controller Settings
Untick ALL the boxes. Important one to untick is "Xbox Controller Support"
Click Back
Click OK.

Fire up GTA V and Enjoy the controller working again.

The game will seamlessly switch between mouse/keyboard and controller at any time now.

mine has worked no issue with steam controller settings. thats where i tweaked it to work more fluidly in gta. it also switches over anytime i use kybd and back again.

are you freaking kidding me? the game works fine untill half way thru and the gas pedal refuses to work? geezus.

Yeah, I will stand by my previous comment but.... lately the Steam settings have been screwed. I finally had to force it off in settings. Now game back to working normally again. I do believe they changed something in the support for controllers and messed it up for GTA

Had same problem now and read about people reinstalling everyting trying to fix this. Thought it wouldnt work because this post is old. But it does! Amazingly easy fix, thank you!

tried this didn't fix my issue. also tried to uninstall HID in the windows controller device settings, nothing. Tried downloading 3rd party controller apps, nothing. Tried, going into big picture mode and importing a gamepad preference, nothing. Nothing I do to play fiveM with the controller seems to work. I had it working for over a year...:(
