I suggest anybody interested use peerblock instead of your windows firewall.
With peerblock being a secondary firewall, you can quickly and easily disable/close it when done playing GTA Online.
PeerBlock is open source and a windows specific fork of PeerGuardian.

I noticed when blocking the other countries, I had issues connecting to Overwatch.
Blocking other countries permanently is likely to cause you many headaches. Of course you can always disable the specific rules or windows firewall if you need to.
i dont like the idea to install stupid app to solve a problem which can behandled by windows alone
it makes it easier to switch the block on/off

There is a PortableApps version if you'd prefer.
https://portableapps.com/apps/security/peerblock-portable
Also, peerblock has no install zip versions as well.
https://code.google.com/archive/p/peerblock/downloads

Like I mentioned a few times before, PeerBlock is FOSS(free open source software.)
IMO FOSS can never be a "stupid app." The very fact I can use it completely free and modify it if I want to is the end all be all of great programs.

EDIT: Changed sourceforge links to google code links which have a more up to date version of peerblock.

While opensource programs are great and always free, unless you compile them yourself after reviewing the source or download the compiled binaries only from the official website where you can check the MD5 hash. You can never be sure what you are installing on your computer is absolutely safe, third party websites could have added anything to the source before compiling. Being careful is even more more important with security/privacy related software. That being said, the Peerblock files on sourceforge are 7 years old. While Peerguardian is still getting regular updates (only Linux and Mac), who knows how stable or safe Peerblock really is to use on the latest operating systems.

Truth be told, the same could be said about the script I have provided for PowerShell. Nobody should ever blindly download and run/install unknown things on their computer, but at least the powershell script can be reviewed easily with any text editor, and people can be sure there are no virus' or backdoors added to any *.exe file. The executable file (PowerShell.exe) needed to use this guide is present on everyone his computer, people don't have to download 7 year old files or download precompiled binaries from a third party website to block countries from accessing their computer.

Lets just say, both methods work and have their merits. Its hard to say wich solution is "better", people should decide for themselves based on their wants & needs wich solution they want to use.
Rockstar devs removed the guide from the public guide list, probably because it was the number 1 guide at that moment. The guide is still accessible through the link in the first post though.

[irony]Great to see the devs got their priorities straight, instead of getting rid of the cheaters, they choose to deprive people of a guide that improves their game experience. GG Rockstar[/irony]
