Uninstalled and then reinstalled to get rid of mods - browse local files and mods still there
So I modded my GTA singleplayer a lot, (lspdfr etc) and it ended up braking the police side of the game. I couldnt find all the necessary files to delete so i figured reinstalling it would work, but I just browsed the files and they are still there. What can I do as I do not know which is mod and which isnt in some cases? I backed it u just now but will the back up contain the mods as well?
Thanks.

The link below will help you remove all modded files from the gtav folder if done properly-

As for the backup containing mods... it shouldn't. Steam should be backing up only the files that steam considers vanilla gtav. The problem with uninstalling gtav is - it will not remove files that shouldn't be there. In that cause - you would uninstall gtav - delete the leftover gtav folder in its entirety - and then restore the backup. That or the link above would clean you.

edit - great to hear it has helped you out repeatedly~

Did you remember to delete the GTA V folder before you reinstalled? Uninstalling the game won't remove mod files in the folder.

What the guy posted worked. Can I now just do that whenever I dont want the mods?

Yep. No need for the silly 70gb redownloads.

Just organize the directory by "date modified" take out any crap added since you remember, reverify file integrity, bam. Thats how I do it when I use the 'no camera restriction tool" in RS editor then back into multi to record more.

I've backed the clean version up. How do I load that up when I want to play online and not the lspdfr etc one?

Reinstall the game will only delete and reinstall its own files. If any mod files are left in that folder it just installs the game files behind them again. Empty the whole folder and reinstall again.
