- Armor is a bit worse
- Weapons are much worse, that frontal pea shooter can't compete with a turret minigun
- It has only 4 seats compared to 9
Yeah, it costs a bit less and you don't need any research, so that can be viewed as a plus. But anyway, if you don't have a bunker and Gunrunning content in general then there are better things for you to pursue. I mean, the only case you should buy Nightshark if you have lots of money and vehicles and are bored. Otherwise it just doesn't have a role it is good at.
Fast armored car? Get Kuruma. Car to clear heists setups and other missions involving NPCs? Get Kuruma, still nothing better than that. Some explosive protection with decent firepower? Get Insurgent. Wanna wreck vehicles and don't mind the lack of speed? Get half-track. You want to destroy everything and be a tank while still having a decent speed? Get an APC.
With such competition Nightshark falls in the role of an armored Schafter - like, it's a good car, but there are better ones that make it obsolete.
All that from practical point of view of course. If practical is not what interests you, disregard the post completely.
Stumbled upon this thread because I was searching if I could use my micro smg in the nightshark (you can, just don't get any armor plating on the windows), then saw this post and had to react to it.
First of all both the Buzzard and Armored Kuruma have always been my workhorses and I also own the Insurgent Pick-Up Custom and the Nightshark.
Armor on both is as far as I know identical. Both require the same amount of RPG shots to explode (both unoccupied and occupied).
The Insurgent Pick-Up Custom has the ability to add dropmines to it. It's a very nice feature if your goal is to fight/blow up people following you. The Nightshark has machine guns at the front of the car which I think are pretty useless.
However, there is a very clear role for the Nightshark. A role at which it excels. Nowadays public lobbies are becoming more and more 'explosive'. Explosive ammo, Hunter, sh*tload of jets etc.
If you're a solo player who wants to get from point A to point B on the map as fast as possible by car and without feeling the need to fight other players, the Nightshark is your best bet. It is fast and has superb handling (one of the best I've ever seen in any car that I've used in GTA Online).
The Insurgent Pick-Up Custom is no match for the Nightshark for the mentioned role because a) it is way too slow and b) its handling isn't nearly as good. The Armored Kuruma is even worse because FMJ bullets basically turn it into a non-armored car and any explosive will blow it up.
So now you know its role: Solo player not into fights wanting to travel from point A to point B as fast as possible (by car) in an 'explosive' public lobby? The Nightshark is your best bet.
What about setup missions or adversary modes? Can they be used in freemode? And in heist finales?
