GTA V - Can't get custom music
Hello,

So I recently started playing GTA V again and noticed that when I try and add custom music to the "User Music" folder and going back into the game to scan the music. It doesn't recognise that there is music in the folder... and yes I do have more than 4 songs in this folder as well.

The game is strange sometimes with filetypes and bitrates. I have had some mp3's not work unless i reencoded them myself and put them back in the folder. If you can, find a free mp3 encoder and just run about 5 or 10 from your current directory through there and toss those in and see if that helps. Try different bitrate settings, variable, constant etc.

Good luck!

Are you putting the music in the proper location? Only asking because the one in appdata / local is the wrong one. The correct one is - my documents / Rockstar games / gtav / user music

Thanks. I'll give it a try!

Yes, I did put it into that location.

EDIT: So I just reviewed the files that I had put into the "User Music" folder. Does it have to be a specific file type? I had put in .wav files and not .mp3.
Would that make a difference?

i've created shortcuts from my mp3 and it works very well. Just put them in "User Music" folder.
i have 5000 mp3 shortcuts for only 24mb
But be sure to not activate the scan mp3 options when the game start or it will take very long time to launch the game.

Just add the shortcut from your music containing folder to your Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA\User Music Folder - Then in game, open settings\Audio\Perform Full Scan for Music. Go to car and open the radio wheel and you should now have a station right at the top called Self Radio. Whatever music is in the containing folder will now play on your radio. You can then use "Self Radio Mode" to make it play "Sequentially" or "Randomly" or "Radio" which is the default. Hope this works for you as well as it works for me. As I'm sure I will refer back here someday.
