I had read about this happening and it happened yesterday when a CEO and I got into a car we had to get. Just as we got in kaboom, up in flames. He was wtf who was that, but no one was near us.

This has been made on purpose in order to prevent duping cars via multi-sessions.

If everyone in your session leaves (due to server issues, lag, or done by you on purpose), your car will automatically go up in flames. This is to stop the duping exploit.

the logic of it is it will happen in solo pub sessions.

Wrong.
It can happen in sessions full of players too.

yes it can i got disconnected - game crashed as i was ceo my friends were driving the car at the time in my org and they said that caught fire , in a session with about 18 players in it after i left
ok, so after reading a ton of information online, i find out that your vehicle will catch fire and destroyed itself if you are the only player in a game session. as someone mentioned before, the reason why R* wants to destroy your car, is to prevent people from doing duping, though i don't know why a solo player can do duping while mulitple players can't, but that's not the problem here. basically to prevent your car being destroy during transportation, you have to make sure every time when you join a session you are not the only player, make sure there is at least 1 other player in the session with you.

However, joining a session with only 1 other player is dangerous, because if that player left when you are transporting the vehicle, the car will catch fire again and destroy itself. the best way to do it will be to join a session with around 10 players. because if a session have too many players, it increases the chance that another CEO will come to steal your car, but if a session have too little players, you have the probability of losing all other players during mid game, and the car catches on fire.

Another important problem to keep in mind and also a problem that R* refuses to fixed, is that many players will randomly disconnect from a session, which has nothing to do with their internet connection speed. this problem happens with XBOX1 PS4 and PC. therefore, if you are transporting your car, and all of sudden you see everyone in your session left, that means you have disconnected from the session, and there is actually nothing you can do. it happens to me quite a few times which I join a session with more than 10 players, and all of a sudden all the other players left the game, and my car catches on fire immediately after.
TheMandarin did you read the other posts it happens in full sessions too
or however many people doesn't matter

This is a known issue that hasn't been addressed by r*

It a bug that causes the car to randomly take too much dmg at once

Its not a bug, rockstar did that so people can't use lag to duplicate car like before. But its a bad way of fixing the duplication problem, because sometimes legit players get lag out and this happen.

If you lag out the session the car still remains active for 2 minutes for other players to steal it. It's been like that since the update.

Thats how people was using it to dup cars, so now they make the car immediately turns into flames to avoid the duplication.
