Going legit (cracked to steam)
So I gifted my brother a copy of GTA 5. He has already have a cracked copy of GTA 5 for a while now just to see if he can run it. But got entertained and played for a while. And he tried on some mods already. So it was only yesterday(or earlier depends on the time) that I gifted the game to him. So I did that switcharoo thing where I paused/canceled the download and copied the cracked gta 5 install folder to steamapps. and started the download again(so it wont download from scratch only the updates).But of course I deleted some traces of the mods and cracked files before I transferred it. Now the update is done and we already played 2-5 hrs of online together.. Just now, I realized I might missed some modded .rpf files ....did steam detect those as corrupted files and redownloaded those files again ? or is it if I indeed missed some modded .rpf files and steam didnt detect them as corrupt and still used it..then he might get banned from online?

Rightclick gtav in steam, properties, local files tab, browse local files.
( View file extensions if needed )
Compare your folder/files to the screenshot - delete anything that is NOT in the screenshot.
( Ignore date, time, type, size - leave commandline.txt IF you use it ) -----
Then - delete the highlighted files. Yes, you heard me - delete them. (steam version only)
And then ===> VERIFY CACHE.

Verify cache will replace the .rpf's that have changed - it will not remove stuff that isn't part of the vanilla install. I don't recall if the pause/copy/restart install process fixes corrupt/changed files - I always verified cache afterwards TO BE sure.

It would be too late now anyways - run verify cache - if nothing is update/changed - rest easy.
If you don't delete any files from the directory (except the highlighted only) - rest easy.

Verify cache will replace the .rpf's that have changed - it will not remove stuff that shouldn't be. Assuming- the mods were installed properly - and aren't plastered inside the directories...

thanks...I also deleted some of those but cant remember about those .dll files..will definitely try this the moment he wakes up...hope theres no modded rpf files..
