Is not impossible. You can use shift and Ctrl.
Or keep using numpad and redefine Num0 for shooting.
I think it's awful but if you find it hard to drive try and see if that helps.
Fly the Oppressor with the WASD keys, not mouse control. The mouse is solely for firing missiles and controlling glide elevation with the two hard buttons on the side of your mouse, which most gaming mice have. Works like a dream for me, more effective than a controller as I can aim better.
Bonus of this is that you have wheelie/stoppie controls at your fingertips too, all on the mouse.

i should play around with keybindings so i don't have to take a hand off the keyboard, and then get on the mouse to fire. i use wasd and 4568 on numpad while flying
right hand : shoot with mouse
In non combat travelling i use wasd and 8456
