I read the first article before moving to China(this article is from ages ago).I thought just like you but in reality the article is only half right.Bf4 at that time was still playable in mainland China even without a VPN although it was almost impossible to get a physical copy of the game.

My GTA5 was preordered on steam 3 months before release.I was in China at the time and there were rumors of Chinese selling their steam copy to foreigners because GTA5 costs 189rmb(around 30 usd) in China.

The VPN thing I could not find any news about it with my Chinese search engine so I will have to wait until I get back to verify if my VPN still works.But the VPN ban has really has nothing to do with GTAO bans since a lot of Chinese can play the game without a VPN.The only possible connection is that using a VPN to play the game will result in a ban.

It proves that people play the game in China and the games isn't completely blocked by the government and your assertion has nothing to do with the bans otherwise me and my friends would have been banned 2 years ago when the game released on PC.And your first link is over 5 years old and was published over a year before the game released on PC.Obviously alot has changed.Your link is outdated.
