Poor fps performance; game will not run in Fullscreen

I've had this problem with two games today.

WhileI can force DRG to switch to Fullscreen by messing around IN the game, SC:O has no facility to do this. The game never launches in Fullscreen. The fps is always bad.

(Machine runs Elite Dangerous maxed out no problem).

I noticed a decent performance boost with the latest NVIDIA drivers, 411.63 released yesterday (9/19). Gained 20 fps on planets running 3440x1440.

TY but this is more about stuttering and being trapped in borderless window mode which always sucks in multi-monitor mixed-mode setups (1 G-SYNC, 1 not).

I run the driver version I have for specific reasons relating to other, older games.

Is there a specific aspect of the new dirver version and your software that pertains to this problem?

Much depends on how old 'old' is but we can't accurately diagnose (graphical) issues if they are not current (the driver cant be dismissed as a culprit).

Drivers can be rolled back if you were open to updating to the latest. We would appreciate any feedback you have after.

Currently, my 580 is experienceing 100% spikes in converssation menus and landing/launch sequences.

drivers 18.8.2

currently installing Radeon adrenalin to see if that changes anything

looks like newest is 18.9.2, currently downloading

still getting the ocassional 100% spike, but much less often, and it seems to be less bad.

conversations still spike. Especially exiting and returning to normal game board
