7th Game In A Row Lost To Stock Buyout
I don't understand how this works:

a) I have 600k of cash
b) 2 rockets selling off my most expensive goods (53k per launch and 28k per launch)
c) huge stockpile of goods that I keep selling off to raise more cash
d) own the same # of shares as the AI
e) I keep EMPing his base over and over
f) computer goes from 0% to 87% able to buy out my company and then rushes to 100%

But I can't buy any of his stock even with 600k of cash and I get bought out.

How do I prevent a buyout?

I don't understand why the AI's stock price is like 1.5x mine... does he buy me out via a stock swap or something?

can you post a screenshot? it's hard to judge why you can't buy the AI's stock with $600K cash. That should be more than enough.

I'm new to the game and I really have trouble understanding how sometimes a buyout can happen as well. Looking at the values and replays doesn't really help - or maybe I'm looking at the wrong numbers.

I wish the entire stock segment of the game was more detailed, allowing direct comparison with all companies. Hovering over each company just seems to give a rough estimate and it's a bit tedious when trying to compare different values. Maybe some sort of additional window could help with understanding this? I actually write down the numbers and then calculate and the moment I seem to understand it, things turn out differently.

For example (in campagin/skirmish), the stock value indicates how much one has to pay for each stock. In order to calculate the overall value of a company I multiply this value times the number of shares I own. Sometimes I get the correct value, sometimes I don't. The tool tip doesn't always verify that. So I play around with the value of other stocks I'm holding, but it doesn't really make sense.

Also, sometimes after buyout a company doesn't net any profit, even though there is no debt. It would be nice to understand that mechanic as well, since it seems random to me if I get something or not. Sometimes the profit increases, sometimes it decreases, etc. and there is no way of telling why that is happening.

The Offworld wiki has detailed information about stock and stock price: https://offworldtradingcompany.gamepedia.com/Stock

Regarding stock price, the more debt you have, the lower your stock price will be. Also owning another company increases your stock price.

When you purchase another company, all cash and debt is wiped out, and you recieve 1% of their cash on hand every second. If they are profitable, you will get a lot of money. If the company is unprofitable you won't get anything.
