Right-turn-on-red-laws in Las Vegas vs. the rest of the country

Does Las Vegas have different right-turn-on-red laws from the rest of the country? I'm about to start a drinking game - drink every time I get a red light violation fine in Vegas after making a right turn on red at an absolutely empty intersection. I'll be completely sloshed before I get to my pickup point.

As far as the game is concerned, it's a bit random, and sometimes there are a couple of legit bugs at some intersections. General rule of thumb is to be in the right most lane with the blinker on. While stopping at the red light is required by law (in pretty much all states) in real life, this is not the case in the game itself.

It is legal to make a right on red in Las Vegas. However, there are some important restrictions that all drivers should know. To make a legal right turn at a red light, all of the following criteria must be met:

You must come to a complete stop;
You must yield to any oncoming traffic or pedestrians; and
You cannot make a right on red if a posted sign indicates the maneuver is unlawful.

There is also a third option. Just laugh and laugh at the fines being so minuscule in relation to what you're making and continue on making right on red anywhere you please.

I've just done a decent bit of driving in Vegas a few days ago (bought the garage there and stocked it, plus picked up a Volvo from the dealership and tested it out on the roads around town). Did several right-on-red turns, never got a single fine.

That's one reason I turned off fines (besides being annoyed by the sound the message makes). I could never do a right on red without being fined no matter where in the map I was, but I also highly doubt I followed your strategy. I'm sure I was sloppy.

I have a fat bank account, so if I ever get fined for trying to make a right on red, I just eat it and be on my way. Few turns are pretty hard to make with a 53 footer on a two-lane road without crossing over. But generally, I don't get the fine, just sometimes I do.

Just because you can turn right on red doesn't mean you have to. If you find that you have trouble turning right on red without getting a fine, wait for the green light. Most RL truckers won't turn right on red to begin with because of the amount of time it can take to turn and right turns are usually wide turns with a trailer.

Not completely right. The lane you leave does not matter. Especially because you have to stick to your line on approach I usually leave left lane and never get fined, at least not for that. If oncoming left turn is green you will however most likely get a collision fine because AI does not expect you to borrow their lane.

Also a lot of companies tell their drivers they are not allowed to turn right on red unless a Traffic controller tells them too. Source Me.

Meanwhile I'm heading back after a road service and trucks don't even stop at the red light on the off ramp to get to the truck stop.

Edit: Because of this post, I drove around Vegas for 2 hours, driving "randomly," trying to park in random spots all over. Made plenty of RToR, both legally and illegally. Only fined for the illegal ones.

Game does not care about lane(as much) or stopping. Only that your right signal is on. You can just blow straight through the light if your signal is on.

When checking this behaviour in game don't forget that, unless a police car is in the vicinity, the chance of getting a red light fine is only 70% so you can sometimes not follow the lane and not get the fine.

Ah, but when you're driving the cab without a trailer just to go around and take pictures, you can drive like a car just about. I mean, the steering is still slow but man, I hit like two red light tickets back to back and I think it was the failure to use the turn signal that did it. Yup, just tested that turning without stopping on a red with the blinker and it was fine.
