Weigh stations probability
Anyone know what they use to choose which trucks get pulled into a weigh station? I was under the impression that it was just a random thing. However, in my current run from Bozeman Montana to Nogales, Arizona, I have been pulled into all five of the weigh stations along the route so far. And three of those five, I was the only truck pulled. If I didn't know any better, I would say I am being targeted. Not like I am carrying any contraband, it is two service trucks. LOL.

It is random. IIRC the chance of getting pulled out is 60%.

Yes, by default ATS set 60% chance of probability being pulled (in contrary, ETS2 has been set for 100%). It's a pure random seed calculation, which mean you'll not always get pulled 6 times after 10 consecutive stations, could be more or less depend on your "luck".

I've said before, I swear in my game it's been upped to 90 or 95. I consistently get pulled in almost every station I pass on almost every journey I take, to the point where not being called in is a very real and welcome surprise to me. I don't use any mods save for a company logo one and occasionally a truck skin one, nothing which affects any weigh station dynamics in any way.

It's not a 'static' value. It works similar to the co-insurance, the more accidents you get in, the more damage you have, the more times you skip a weight station and even the time since last being weighed are all taken into account.

So if you drive appropriate to the law and keep your vehicle in good condition as always stop when asked, you should find the frequency is low. But if you skip them, or regularly have damage or high fine counts, you are gonna get called in more.

Now how this works with people who drive with fines off, I don't know. It's possible that it still logs the fines to help calculate frequency, or it may be directly tied into co-insurance %.

I can recommend the following mod to reduce getting called in.

Here is my experience for added information:

I do indeed drive with fines off, I let tyres go to about 25% wear and drive in a generally legal manner avoiding incidents with AI. I used to pretty much avoid the weigh stations as every one will call me in.
I use the above mod to reduce being called in, but I will pull in 'sometimes' now as it is less of a chore for an occasional pull in.

I try to play the game quite realistically: I haven't skipped a stop in my entire ATS career, and I'm very careful when driving so my insurance hasn't risen above 2% in ages. The only one of those factors which would remotely apply to me is the truck condition, as I don't repair it up after every job...but I do still keep on top of it to the point where I've never had a fine for it, only ever advisory notices. And yet I still get hauled in a good 90% of the time at least.

I break every law there is and mine is still at 2%. And even doing that I would guess that my "suggested pull in" percentage is maybe half the time I see one. I never go in unless I'm curious what a new truck weighs.

My pull out rate is pretty much 60% overall. Sure, there are deliveries where I am being pulled out every single time but I also have those where I am not being pulled out.

what I do is regardless of whether the call is yes or no, I take the exit and roll past the scales in the empty lane. I stop at the scales if the call in is yes. This pretty much mimics my own country's system.

it seems determined by your route. my exp, if you justdrive in one state, you should be asked to stop one time at most. but for interstate route, you maybe stop at most state boundary

Insurance only goes up if you crash.

I've noticed the same. I forget the route, but it was a long one. AZ to WA maybe. 3hours IRL. Got a pass on every single weigh station. Then another long one, got called in to every single weigh station. I can't recall another long trip that wasn't 95% pass or pull in.

I think it's just poor coding like the red on right. It's definitely not a random roll per station, even though someone will be along shortly to tell us we're wrong & the game is perfect.

You are wrong and the game is perfect ! Only joking. Im also sick of getting pulled into about 90% of the stations i pass.

Probably just personal perception. I'd say I come pretty close to the 60 in 40 pass suggested. It indeed seems to vary over my profiles - getting more calls in my achievement grinding profil with rougher driving style and therefore usually some battle marks on the truck when weight - sometimes also not getting in at all (grinding causes some sparks...) than in my game fiction profile where I strictly follow rules.

I think there might be a bit of confirmation bias in play...you're going to notice that 2,000-mile trip where you got black-flagged for a stop-and-go at every weigh station. You're also going to notice the similarly long trip where you averaged 63 mph thanks to the only stops being pulling off the interstate to get some rest and top up the fuel tank.

The ones where you get two straight stops, then two straight go-aheads, then a stop to round out the 3-out-of-5 probability will just pass unnoticed as "normal".
