Truck and Trailer Combination not legal in this state
Anybody ever seen this admonition at the weigh station? I'm a 389 Pete pulling an aluminum 53' spread-axle flatbed trailer loaded with lumber and that's what the weigh station said. It didn't appear to assess me with any fine or ask me to park or turn around and leave. Just wondering what the ramifications are.

Note, this is entering Kansas on 35N from Texas.

I'm currently conducting an experiment on how far I can push tire wear before I get a fine at the weigh station. I'm currently at 56% wear on the tractor and 25% on this particular trailer with 0% wear on any other parts. This puts my tractor at 12% overall wear and the trailer at 8%.

I'm not sure if the two things are related, and I understand there are some states that allow triple trains and stuff like that, but I've not heard of a state not allowing a tractor and flatbed???

Yep. Depending on which state some trailers are illegal in said state because of what is known as bridge laws.

For clarity, it's not Bridge Weight, but Wheelbase that is the issue in Kansas and California, (and maybe a few other States). 53 footers must have non-spread tandems in the Forward position to meet the "Maximum Wheelbase" Laws .. a 53' With a 10'2" Spread meets all 50 States Bridge Weight laws, but the rear axle being farther rear-ward makes the total Wheel Base too long for Kansas and California.

Some one had issues with rear 53ft axle config. But I thought the GPS wasn't suposed to route you trough state where you trailer isn't ok.

That could be partially my fault. The original routing was from Dallas, up 35N to 287 to Wichita Falls then to Amarillo and North from Amarillo on 287 through Dalhart, then over to 25N at Raton, then north on 25 to Denver.

As far as I'm aware, the GPS will not change your route depending on trailer, no. The game won't generate any jobs which start or end in a state where the job's trailer is illegal, but it does not take into account the path to get from one to the other. That is the driver's responsibility to mark out their route.
