What I did personally was unbind all controller specific inputs, and then using JoytoKey, I set up a profile that assigned all the controller buttons to various keyboard buttons- And L1 and R1 are 'Shift' modifiers essentially that emulate most of an entire extra controller, letting me do damn near anything with just the controller.
Here's my layout, as an example, if you're interested in doing the same or trying it:
Joy 1:
DUP (DU, 1) - High Beam Headlights
DRIGHT (DR, 2) - Right-Turn Indicator
DDOWN (DD, 3) - Wipers
DLEFT (DL, 4) - Left-Turn Indicator
A (B1, 5) - Activate
B (B2, 6) - Shift Down
X (B3, 7) - Interior Camera
Y (B4, 8) - Shift Up
LB (B5, ~) - Use Joy #2
RB (B6, ~) - Use Joy #3
Select (B7, 9) - Route Advisor Next Page
Start (B8, 0) - Menu
LTSIN (B9, -) - Start/Stop Engine
RTSIN (B10, =) - Trailer Attach/Detach
Joy 2:
DUP (DU, Q) - Light Modes
DRIGHT (DR, W) - Rear Suspension Up
DDOWN (DD, E) - Suspension Reset
DLEFT (DL, R) - Rear Suspension Down
A (B1, T) - Cruise Control + (B1, O) Adaptive Cruise Control Mode(double tap to access second one)
B (B2, Y) - Cruise Control Speed Decrease
X (B3, U) - Next Camera
Y (B4, I) - Cruise Control Speed Increase
LB (B5, ~) - Held to shift from Joy 1->Joy 2
RB (B6, ~) -
Select (B7, P) - Route Advisor Navigation Page
Start (B8, [) - Quick Save
LTSIN (B9, ]) - Parking Brake
RTSIN (B10, \) - Lift/Drop Axle
Joy 3:
DUP (DU, A) - Zoom Interior Camera
DRIGHT (DR, S) - World Map
DDOWN (DD, D) - Hazard Warning + (DD, L) Beacon
DLEFT (DL, F) - Trip Info Reset
A (B1, G) - Horn
B (B2, H) - Air Horn
X (B3, J) - Show/Hide Side Mirrors On-Screen
Y (B4, K) - Gearbox Switch Automatic/Sequential
LB (B5, ~) -
RB (B6, ~) - Held to shift from Joy 1->Joy 3
Select (B7, Z) - Photo Mode
Start (B8, X) - Quick Load
LTSIN (B9, C) - Differential Lock
RTSIN (B10, V) - Lift/Drop Trailer Axle
RB is empty on Joy 2, and LB on Joy 3 because they both shift to a different controller map- If you press one then the other it just shifts again, so you can't use them that way. You are of course welcome to map it however you please- This is just how it's ended up for me, and it works very well imo.
Logged in yesterday to try out SmoothTrack head tracker and says NONE of my GYRO STEERING saves are "Compatible" with the STEAM controller in the STEAM controller section.
Honestly im like 4 states behind, and until I can get a STABLE same every single time I load in Controls I will NOT purchase another state. Leave the damn controls ALONE.
