If you do find one but it is in terrible condition, you can buy it, then go to the Western Star dealership and select to buy trucks for your fleet with the same configuration as a truck you already have. Select the 5700XE as the starter truck, and you'll be able to buy more of them from there, but they will all be brand new rather than beaten up. You can get as many brand new ones as you wish this way, then sell the old wreck.
5700XE has the most modern features like collision detection radar and warning indicator plus larger LCD screen but no speed limit on GPS for some odd reason...
The 5700XE was introduced as a highway truck for Western Star in 2015. In 2022 Western Star rebranded their lineup to the X Series and that included switching the 5700XE over to the Cascadia chassis and cab with the 57X. I couldn't find 5700XE sales figures with a couple seconds of Googling but the Cascadia is the best selling truck in the country thanks to fleet orders. WS has a much smaller market share than Freightliner so I wouldn't be surprised if Daimler wanted to simplify the supply chain for their OTR Class 8 trucks in NA and maybe boost the sales of Western Star in the process.
Kenworth introduced the wide cab W990 in 2018 but there's still plenty of demand for the narrow cab W900B and W900L that are still in production.
With all as iconic as the W9 it's profitable to keep updating it and selling the model new, whereas with WS's highway truck it made economical sense for Daimler to make it a reskinned Cascadia. This chassis change decreased weight, increased fuel economy. The 5700XE was never vital to Western Star's brand image like the W9 is to Kenworth, so it's really just a numbers game as to why the truck was replaced with a new model so quickly.
