What is the best steering wheel for American Truck Simulator?
I am looking to purchase a steering wheel and shifter etc for use with ATS and need recommendations. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the Logitech G29, the G920 is supposedly very similar but has XBox buttons instead of PS4, both function exactly the same as far as I'm aware.

You could spend a small fortune on a 'Pro' wheel and pedals setup, but I think the G29/G920 is probably as much as you'll ever need for a game like ATS. There are others from e.g. Thrustmaster but I haven't tried those so can't comment on them. Probably wise to avoid cheaper offerings, the G29 has a nice geared force feedback system with smooth turning through 920 degrees, and no 'springy' centre.

If you wanted to get more controls then I believe Logitech make a console which is also marketed for Farming Simulator, it has an array of coloured buttons and a lever (probably good for the parking brake), but it's quite expensive for what it is and not strictly necessary.

What is your budget? To a certain extent you get what you pay for...
Just for ATS/ETS2 or will you play some racing games? SCS games aren't very demanding, but as soon as you move into iRacing or Automobilista2 etc quality means a LOT more.
I think you'll see agreement that you want at least 900 degrees of rotation and Force Feedback, which PXN wheels, for example, do not have.

To build on Sandhill's recommendation--the entry level wheels (Logitech G920/G29) and the Thrustmaster TMX will do fine for ATS, but will not be great for things like auto racing sims, where you'd want a higher quality wheel.

I use a G920 wheel and pedals with a TH8A shifter. No complaints here

There are a couple new trucking wheels coming out in 2023. One by Aerosoft that looks a little cheap but all buttons are labled and it has a blinker level. And the other by Moza shown off at an event in 2023. If you dont want to wait for a trucking wheel logitech makes racing wheels. I will be using an xbox controller until the Moza wheel comes out.

Thrustmaster's TMX, T150, T128 are still way better than anything Logitech will muster and at a cheaper price. These all should be around $200 USD.

Cons for using Logitech:
-Helical gear system to where you feel every single notch? No thanks.
-Extremely noisy and clunky force feedback that can be heard through the house? No thanks.
-Huge Dead zone at the top of the wheel? No thanks.
-A ton of people have problems with their wheels too. GHUB is not the most user friendly piece of bloatware to use.

About the only thing Logitech has going for them is you get a three pedal set at the start.

In order to get a three pedal set from Thrustmaster you need to get at least the T248, T300, or something similar. Otherwise you get a basic two pedal set.

i've had my wheel for a couple of years and have no problem. deadzone can be st to how you want. only time my wheel is heard is when it recalibrates after a pc update or software update

I would go with a T248 and a Simtask steering kit.
